Anandamidi DIY MIDI controller

Anandamidi DIY MIDI controller

Recently I started new project, another MIDI controller with brand new layout and design, but builds heavily upon Tannin, my previous project, with several improvements regarding construction, software and hardware. As far as the hardware is concerned it contains:

16 buttons
6 pots
3 faders
10 LEDs

It’s based upon Arduino Pro Mini, but without Arduino libraries (written in AVR-C with several modifications of Arduino functions I use). It will also contain hardware USB MIDI chip, so that it shows in PC like generic MIDI controller, without any additional software or drivers needed. Here are some pictures (it is still work in progress):

You can read about it in more detail on my blog:

Wow, this is really solid. Nice man.

Thanks! I’ve finished placing faders today:

Nice work man. Would love to do something like this. How do you learn to do all this kind of stuff?

I love building stuff so naturally I always find ways to learn whatever I need at given moment  BTW, you can see here cool feature I’ve been working on, it makes heavy use of Traktor modifiers:

I like this formula  Nice work mate, as always.

Nice!
What knobs are those, and where did you get them?

The looks sort of Sifam’ish, like the new Makenoise knobs.

I got them in a local electronics shop, they’re quite nice actually.

I got the PCB yesteday, time for some soldering!

And quick start-up test:

Video time!

Case still needs to be painted, but it’s looking rather nice already.

Almost done…

Also, another video:

Looks good.

What made you stick with Arduino instead of using Teensy which can recognize it as USB Midi device?

USB cable plate:

I wish i could build myself that good looking controller…
