Any experience with the Behringer BCF2000 (or similar)? (midi line fader mixer)

I’m not sure if I’m placing this in the right area, but I was wondering if anyone has any experience with the BCF2000. I’m currently producing, and would love more tactile control over Live’s mixer. I’m looking for something compact, since I don’t have a lot of room.

If anyone has any experience/knowledge of the BCF2000 or any other similar compact MIDI line mixers for under $200?

All responses are appreciated. Thanks!

I come from a ableton background, and am just dipping my toes into Traktor.

If you are looking for a midi device, with faders, to be used in ableton, then the UC-33e is worth picking up. They tend to be rather cheap on ebay, and are relatively compact. Failing that, for live, I use the VCM-600, but that’s a beast…!

Consider APC20 if you want tactile mixing control as well as clip launching right out of the box.
And of course its big brother APC40 if youère budget is somewhat flexible for awesome parameter control with led feedback!

I have a BCF2000. It’s very useful for mixing, having physical faders is way better for making fine adjustments than clicking and dragging in Live.

Unfortunately, the faders are very rattly when they move, which is annoying. There’s a fix for this which I haven’t tried yet that involves taking the unit apart and tightening the belts that move the faders, but I haven’t done it.

Overall, it’s still very useful though.

If you do end up getting one, it might not work right with Live off the bat. Mine wouldn’t switch to different banks of faders. To get mine to work with Live, I had to run it in Mackie Control emulation mode (how to start up the BCF2000 in this mode is in the manual) and then set live to recognize it as a Mackie Control. Once I did that though, it worked like a charm.

+1 on the APC 20/40 for ableton. LOTs of controls.
