Anybody mirror their laptop to an ipad for traktor?
Title says it all, after seeing the s8 thought I’d like to mirror my airbook to my ipad wondering what people’s experience is. Thanks.

Yep, I do using splashtop. Works just fine.
I use DVS and so I only need the screen for the browser view so i can see track name and track bpm. I sometimes put it under the booth, as I really only look at it when selecting songs.
Cool follow up question, do you use a third part app to be able to close the laptop or almost close it without it sleeping?
Closed laptops overheat faster.
Gonna need a reference for that. Ive never come across a problem caused by a laptop being on and closed with the screen off.
Both Windows and MacOSX support this in their Energy settings control panels.
Can’t find it under mine, did read something about usb keyboards or flash drives and a workaround. Did also read about overheating so I mentioned almost closed. Apple thread about people wanting to use itunes with it closed.
Other than it being common knowledge, the fact that keyboards get warm under heavy use, and the fact that I’ve had it happen…no. Go find evidence that contradicts it.
Found this…Can I overheat my MacBook Air if I close its lid and use external monitor? | MacRumors Forums
I’ll leave mine a little open I think.
I do the same, using splashtop. Great little program, I use a wireless mouse with it though as using a touchscreen can be a bit fiddly.
Always keep my windows laptop fully closed and have never had any overheating issues.
General test I did on a Dell XPS15 about 6-months ago.
Control was rendering an architectural scene in Autodesk 3DS Max over a 1-hour period. Laptop was plugged in and sitting in a room that was 78-degrees. Surface temperature taken at palmrest. Laptop was shut down and cooled to room temperature between tests.
Wattage measured with a Extech EX330 Multimeter.
Internal heat measured with Piriform Speccy.
External heat measured with Maytech Infrared Thermometer.
Laptop Open (normal):
Laptop Almost Closed to 1-inch (Screen on):
Laptop Closed (Screen off)
YMMV, but I’m confident the stress I put on this machine is significantly higher than when I spin.
If you can somehow get the screen to turn off and keep the lid open slightly then I’m guessing this would be best all round, but keeping the screen on throws out a lot of heat!!
Any alternatives to do this from macbook to android tablet?
(Or will I need to stick to the Remote Desktop plugin of Google Chrome?
)
I tried it with Teamviewer from Windows to IPad and Android… didn’t work well.
Splashtop have apps for both mac and android.
Goddamn I love an evidence based approach.
Nice Work.
Love your work.
Thanks Rob, much appreciated!
