Alright, so I attended the last Banana Split Sunday party at LAX and between the Aoki/AM and A-trak set was this cat by the name of Zuper Blahq. Comes out with a black pointy beanie, all blacked out, black mask and shades on. Apparently, he’s a well known person (even rolling with a bodyguard) and uses the masks and whatnot to hide his true identity.
His set was pretty damn good to say the least. What was most interesting was the fact that he wasn’t using decks but using a midi controller…I tried to get a peak at what he was using, but couldn’t make out what.
Here’s a video from a show back in February. Can you guys make out what he’s working with???
**Edit: After listening to his only track and searching the Internet to confirm it, Zuper Blahq is apparently will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas. CRAZY…
What on EARTH are all those idiot hangers-on doing behind him
Id be like “get out of my booth, get away from my gear”
Theres one girl waving a bottle over his gear. AAARRRGGGgghhhhh
Theres another sat next to his Mac texting on her phone and she just walks about like he
isnt there.
Hahaha i wouldnt mind but the girl whos texting sat next to him gets up wanders behind him and is seen later stood next to him texting again and just looking around. Shes not interested at all …
Now if you ask me that makes him look bad. If theres people in my booth i either want them going nuts to the music or if they are women stood there looking cool and hot .
Unfortunately its usually my mates girlfriends putting there coats and bags in the booth and stealing my rider beer OR the manager who is the gayest man in the world pretending to bum me whilst im trying to DJ (he is funny though)
Every once in a while some friends of mine and I will get in the booth behind an unsuspecting DJ and just stand there acting tough.
Then when he does something really simple, like touch the volume fader, or move the EQ, or put his headphones on we all go nuts like he just changed the way DJing will be seen.
That’s Dim Mak Tuesday’s at Cinespace…a staple party in the LA party scene for almost 5 years now. They host top names in electro/dance/indie music and is one of the funnest parties you’ll go to around these parts.
hes runnin torq xponent and the torq software as well. you can tell because of the big waveform.
probably m-audio gave him the stuff they support a lot of big artists…
