Anyone know how to make/find these popular electronic sounds??
So I hear these sounds everywhere these days in EDM music especially the popular songs. The first sound is in the song called toulouse by Nicky Remero (also in others but this is a good example) and it starts around 2:15. Its a faint sound defiantly does not stand out to the regular listener but its a tension rising sound and kind of sounds like someone is blowing into a wood pipe. Nicky has a video on how he made toulouse but the Dutchman deliberately skips how he makes this sound. Bastard. Here is the link to the tune , Any ideas?
The second sound is also a tension riser and its in this tune called Feel by third party and is also a very popular sound I hear all the time, it kind of sounds like a laser gun being shot or something. Sorry for the terrible descriptions but it starts 45 seconds into the track and this one is more apparent than the first sound I mention above. I know these sounds are probably a very small part of making a track but it is really the small things that makes the difference between an amateur and professional sounding tune, at least that’s my opinion. Any Ideas. Heres the link
First one could be some simple reverb that he’s pitchbending, and the second one is just a simple synth hit that’s rising, could also be pitch bend or just him playing it up the keyboard.
I am pretty sure for the first one you can find a similar sound in vengeance sample packs. For the second one, Sylenth1, Factory Bank, tab number three, the preset is called DR Laser.
You are all wrong >.< Watch the video he did with Future Music (buy the magazine).
He talks about it fully, its basically a synth with white noise with a riser VST over the top (CHeck endless phaser by oli larkin). It uses a barber pole effect (always rising) to get the sound.
No one is going to release this sound, all the big boys are using it atm (nicky romero/axwell/SHM/Tommy trash) and are keeping it pretty secret…
yea thats why i am asking, i hear these sounds everywhere, i was actually trying to figure out what soft synth produceds this sound, it cant be a vst, at least not in this example cause nicky uses logic which does not accept vst plugins. it has to be an au, i am thinking he uses masive but wanted some more direction on which preset/oscilattor type. as for the second sound if it is a vengance sound do you know what pack? although i think it is also a soft syth that makes it.
Ok… firstly… You can make this sound in ANY synth… (most synths are VST and AU so your point is invalid)
Secondly… You come off as not having tried at all, no one said this is going to be easy, if you have this attitude you are going to fail.
WATCH THE VIDEO, he talks about hearing it in another track and trying for WEEKS, yes WEEKS to get the sound. A PRO took WEEKS to do it… Read this line a few times.
so i downloaded the video since its not on youtube anymore your right about the endless phaser, and if you pause it you can see he eq’s the track to take everything below about 200 hz out. he also says it took him about an hour and a half to make, not weeks. (again not trying to upset you jackle) just clarifying and letting others know so they dont dis encouraged to try and make this sound.
Ok so this is what i came up with. Before anything I know it sounds pretty terrible compared to Nicky’s but how close am i getting and what can I change/add/take away. Also good comments are welcome.
