Anyone know what happened with House.NET and what i should use instead?
Alright, so not gonna lie, its been about 3 years since i’ve updated my music collection, or even played out.
I took a pretty big break from the scene, only playing at random festivals my friends would ask me to play at.
I’ve been recently hanging out with a friend who’s kind of inspiring me to pick it up again, so, naturally i decided it was time to update my music.
Well, my go to site, was House.NET, being able to browse so much obscure/mainstream music by tags was the best.
I went on there, and the layout is completely revamped, for the worse i might add, but it seems like its now EDM.com, which i was pretty sure that had something to do with the original site owner, but still.
Either i’m just technologically incompatible, or they took off the tag search, and free dl’s.
Which brings me to the question, is there another place that worked like house.netcirca 2010 ?
Soundcloud is the obvious choice, but it really makes you dig deep unless you actually know some really good artists to go off of.
I guess being out of the “scene” for so long that it’s hard to see that the way we are getting music is changing from day to day. There are alot of people that are leaving soundcloud due to it becoming a sh!t show. Beatport just got a face lift and a piece of desktop software that alot of people seem to like. There are also lots of smaller independant music distributors.
And as you know, everyone and their grandma are now DJs and producers. So there are ten times as many duds as there are bombs. Digging had become the key to standing out (like it always should).
Find repost pages on Soundcloud that pertain to your favorite genres… And you’ll find gold. Digging on Soundcloud is so easy once you get the general idea of how to look around that I have never needed any other platform to find music unless I plan on buying tracks on Beatport. .
