anyone own an X-Session?

anyone own an X-Session?

if so, how are they, I’ve been eyeing this for a few weeks now. starting to really need something like this too, I scratched my nocturn to death in no time:slight_smile:.

I just need it for straight midi control, so It looks perfect. anyone have one?

A couple people talking about the xsp.

try to find one used, i got mine for 25 off my area craigslist.

i use a xsessioni love it but its time forme to move on

i used the xps for sometime and it work good for me

It’s a good controller, works fine when you are getting started, works great if you have a controller pad (I have the korg nano). This is actually a cheap combination that allows you to have enough control of software such as Traktor, but of course with some modifiers.
The only problem I have is its lack of precision with all of the controls, you have to move them a little bit more so the software can read it.

If you need the midi mappings feel free to ask.

I’ll be using it(x-session) in conjunction with a Remote SL 25 and a stanton Dascratch, I have a nocturn now, but in only about 5 months time I have scratched the fader to death, it will now jump around(the signal) while standing still(The fader itself).

I really just need it for a durable crossfader that hopefully has smoother action than the nocturn, can anyone compare directly between the two?

I’d be using it as a scratch channel controller for ableton live.

I was also wondering if the unit can save multiple different presets(midi CC#) on the hardware itself?

thanks for everyone’s help.

I’ve got an XSP, it’s great. I fully recommend it.

I did a review here, if it helps.

There is a program that allows you to save presets on to the xsp. It’s called Enigma. You can get it on m-audios site.

I have one alongside my vci-100, I think I will use it for controlling deck 3 and 4 in tpro. I have it since like 2 year and it never fell on me and it’s pretty well build for a little plastic box :stuck_out_tongue:.

thank you all for the feedback and info.

about the templates, can it hold multiple templates and change between them during performance.

wich software are you using?

ableton Live, controllerism style stuff,

Remote SL, and a DaScratch, Nocturn for a crossfader(for now).

Dang I don’t know if you can change your midi settup on the fly, in live, for this you can try enigma the free software that come with the x-session but I’ve never really mess with it.
Maybe one live user can help your more than me on this

You can use enigma but its kind of a pain to switch the settings. You have to press this little indented button on the back of you xsp then press the preset you want. It is small.

yeah, thats what I wanted to know, with the nocturn I can make unlimited pages with different configurations of MIDI CC#'s and switch between them instantly while playing without missing a beat.

it’s not changing the assignments in live itself that I want, but changing templates or pages, like template A has CC# 112 for the crossfader, and template B would have CC#116 as the crossfader, like page 1 and page 2 on the nocturn, it seems as though this is the only limitation that will cause any issue’s in my setup, but I can work around that.

thanks to everyone.

There should be somekind of midi page in live.
But I think you can sort someting with Bomes.

I’ve already got bomes comited to my Stanton DaScratch, like 40 or more translators, that thing is flippin awesome. both bomes and the DaScratch.

I think I’m being misunderstood here, I dont want to change the assignments in live while I’m playing, just the hardware assignments.

example:

scratch track one has a MIDI CC# on the crossfader of # 112.

scratch track two has a MIDI CC# on the crossfader of # 116.

on the nocturn I set it to page one, and I’m scratching on channel one, with the crossfader sending out midi CC# 112, I press the page up button on the nocturn, and page 2 controls scratch channel 2, midi CC# 116.

the assignments in live itself are all stable and permanent, its just that at the touch of a button, the nocturn will change to another CC# and control a different channel, NOT CHANGING ANY ASSIGNMENTS IN LIVE IN THE PROCESS.

just the outgoing MIDI CC# of the hardware.

does that make sense?
