Anyone use a Netbook to organize tracks?
Do any of you have the S4 software loaded on a netbook? Does it run at all? I’m not talking about a full setup but will it be useable enough to add some cue points and build playlists? I would not play out with this, it would be more of a sit on the couch maybe with an x1 machine.
Haven’t tried it but pretty sure it would work for what you said and testing mixes - as long as you’re not throwing loads of fx and using the loop recorder should be fine
I think it would work. There’s no good way to keep a collection synced between two machines though.
I just keep my NI folder plus tunes on a USB drive - as long as you set you system to recognize the drive as same letter your collection becomes ‘portable’ too.
What up pimp.
I have TP on a netbook Dell Mini 10V with an OS X hack and it works flawless. I’ve played a 4 hour set just messing around at a friends pool party one time when I had the VCI-100. Only issue was it takes a little long to analyze new tracks, but it worked great. I got the mini 10v for like 200 bucks refurbed from Dell and the Snow Leopard disk was 30 bucks. Sweet deal for a mini macbook. I think with OS X you wouldn’t have any issues with the S4 software…you might just need more than the standard 1 gig of memory they come with.
one thing I forgot to add is the screen resolution is too small for traktor preferrences. I used to have to minimize the screen so I could hit the import buttons and then change it back to normal.
Nice Haze, I was thinking of getting the 10v…do you like it? I saw a few others that work well with osx. Hows the trackpad on the dell?
yeah I liked it alot. I haven’t used it in a while though…it’s been about 8-9 months since I even seen that thing (in storage right now). I used to like it alot. For the price having a mini macbook was awesome.
Trackpad was “ok”. You can only do 2 finger moves on it. No 3 or 4 swipes. Checkout

That’s where I got the info to do the hack job and those guys were always coming up with new releases and updates. I know the trackpad was the one thing they were trying to improve on about 10 months ago. I think for the price if I wasn’t going to put OS X I wouldn’t get it. The smallness of it, does take some getting used to.
If I get to my storage before I take off, I’ll let you hold on to it.
No way dude…you’ve done enough for this DJ. =)
Enjoy your vacation and don’t go near that storage locker. Lol
Thanks for the good info as always!
Actually my tracks are super organized…I just wanted to know if anyone was using their netbooks to sort tracks.
