Hey all, I booked a gig spinning an art show in North Hollywood and I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with these. The show will feature alot of photography and light sculptures as well as street art. The floorplan lends itself to a dance floor infront of the stage but I’m trying to figure out what genre to go with… I’m known in the area for Electro and DnB, but I’m not sure if that would be a good idea for an art show, or maybe I’m just overthinking it and getting paranoid for no reason. Any thoughts or ideas?
can go wrong with electro, I did a art show not too long ago, and it went well with the art. Plus they were doing live art (graff) so I busted out some breaks.
Demographic is apparently 18-30 for the core group with about 300-400 wanderers throughout the night (numbers from the last show). BTW, why haven’t we met up yet JesC? =)
Damien dont you live in the valley, chatsworth? Man thats far, I have better chances of meeting up with Bento or Tekki j/k we sould meet up one of these days. I work in glendale so maybe we could meet up at a coffee shop or at the mall
Oh, I would say play some indie rock/dance remixes. That always goes well with the art peeps. Where & when is this show going to be exactly, if you want and Im not book I can help you with a set.
Music starts at around 730ish. My call time is 530 to set up shop and what not. It would be awesome if you could come… 4hrs is kinda long for me since i’m used to doing 1 - 2 hr rave sets. Gimme a call if you can do it and i’ll let the curator know you’re coming.
