I played with it at best buy, feels really really cheap and is hardly useable if you have ever DJd on anything serious. There also seemed to be latency in the display and the waveforms and whole thing seemed laggy. You might be able to get by on it in the bedroom if you have never used anything better but I couldn’t use it.
oh shame, i’d love to have an all in one unit. cut out all the traktor NI (Not intuitive) rubbish.
I might still check it out
Will DJTT do a review?
from what i heard analyzing tracks takes forever…
I don’t like the ‘all in one’ thing when there’s no expansion possibility. When you look at traktor, it can be/do whatever YOU want. This is little more than a mobile dj bit of kit that doesn’t require cds, not pushing any boundaries either as it’s just 2 decks + mixer.
Added it to my list of things to review at bpm
If they’re selling that at Best Buy, you know it’s shit!
I doubt it is on their radar or would interest most readers
The one thing I was thinking about with this thing- if it can have full working waveforms in a budget unit then why doesn’t a CDJ-2000?
I think the only real interest is where it will lead. Imagine an s4 with with built in computer… dvs hub/traktor/tracks/soundcard in one place. Maybe with a couple of usb slots for additional devices to be link on.
as long as it had decent full screen, maybe folds out or something…?
I would be more interested in the next gen pioneer units. Full waveforms that can zoom in and beatsync over their ethernet interface then maybe showing all waveforms lined up next to each other vertical in a next gen djm-2000 style mixer. Then maybe an optional laptop/recordbox type interface just for added FX control and fine tuning. Throw that in ever club and I’ll ditch a laptop, the only thing you might want a laptop for is an external FX processor.
I would try one yourself before trusting that review, they were very generous. People hate on midi controllers for feeling like toys saying the S4 and VCI do. This stanton unit actually feel like a toy or some next gen xbox controller for DJ hero 4.0.
So wait. The OP should trust YOU over a well known reviewer and operator of a trusted and famously non-biased website. What exactly are YOUR qualifications?
Also, let me address something else. Best Buy is now one of the biggest MI (musical instrument) retailers in the US. They have over a hundred dedicated MI stores, which is half as many as GC and double Sam Ash. And that’s just counting BestBuy’s MI dedicated stores. BB also carries a number of products in all 1100 stores as well.
Saying “If they’re selling that at Best Buy, you know it’s shit!” is both stupid AND ignorant.
Lol, classic xone…
just love all nem0nic’s rants… He’s so full of reason all the time ![]()
First of all, I never bashed on it because the sold it at best buy (that was someone else), I just said I tried one there and spent a good half an hour on it.
I didn’t say he should trust me I just said he should try one himself before ordering one, I didn’t tell him to take my word for it. I don’t care how unbiased and good of a reviewer the site is the unit feels like a glorified xbox controller. The plastic is just as shaky, wobbly, the unit feels just as light. The knobs feel like dj hero knobs and the buttons are garbage. The jog wheels are total trash and so is the sound of the fx and how usable to screen is. If you told me it was for the new DJ Controller Hero I might believe it.
You would honestly be better off using djay for the ipad and a split output for cueing than this setup.
But let me guess, you’ve never used one and can’t really add any real value to the discussion…
Let’s get started, who else has mana?
Have to agree… maybe another couple of years and the laptop will be a thing of the past as tech gets better and companies can lump all the [computer] stuff inside.
The pioneer stuff is already heading that way. My only concern, right now, would compatability between manufacturers. Right now i run a numark/vestax/novation setup. If everyone followed pioneers method, would i still be able to have the stuff from the companies i want? Or would i be stuck with one manfucaturer?
Right now a cdj/tt + mixer [non laptop] setup can be made up of various companies too, but as the kit gets more clever and all talks amongst itself we’ll need a new communication standard for it ALL to work TOGETHER. MIDI 2.0 perhaps?
And I didn’t attribute that quote to you. That was someone else.
Actually I was one of the project managers for it, and I can tell you that I’ve spent just a little more time with it than you have. Maybe… just maybe I can bring a little more to the discussion than you can.
That said, I try to stay out of recommending equipment now unless it’s from a company I don’t have to ties to. You are certainly entitled to your opinion. But your little barb at Skratchworx was what I was responding to. You post in this thread multiple times shitting all over the SCS.4DJ, yet someone posts a link to a review (something the OP asked for) and you slight it. I can promise you that the reviewers spent more time with the device than you did, and their review unit wasn’t locked to a display.
Oh, and they know a little about equipment, what constitutes quality, and can render an unbiased opinion. There’s that.
ok ok ok
back to the topic
Its looks pretty good for instant DJ fun.
are a bit off putting.
the scratchworx review was really good, cheers for that ![]()
You’re welcome. We have any more too. And any more to come.
