3.5ft has always been plenty long for my needs but I usually run my laptop on a stand in the middle of my setup. I know a lot of people keep the laptops off to the side, so if you have ample controllers/decks/mixers you may need longer but you can easily figure that out by setting up what you have, and running a piece of string from the computer to where you need it, then measuring that to see how long youāll cables will need to beā¦Sorry if that didnāt make sense, Iām a few pints in
You could always make your own cable too. Buy a USB cable thats long enough and add your own ferrite chokes to it.
Remember that without a hub inbetween, I believe the USB spec says 5m is the longest you can run.
actualy, few times it made my head scratch about how on earth i am going to plug myself and switch with other laptop dj in a really small booth where you have space for just like one laptop⦠eventualy i found a solution and still IMO its worth the cable adds extra resistency and assurance to stability of your system.
cheers for the replies
where would i get ferrites form in the UK?
Are they easy to fit?
Also what the thing about āgrounded only one endā is that a fairly standard feature on pro cables?
