ASIO4ALL thoughts? Does it really make your soundcard more efficient?

from what i’m reading about it, it’s just a low latency WDM audio devices for laptops…but i’m not sure, could anyone talk it up or down?

Works wonders for my laptop. Just recently got an update from HP for my audio drivers and now mt realtech drivers sound like piss in traktor and nothing but static comes out but Asio4all made it sound perfect. :disappointed: HP what has you done?!?!?

But also the latency is really good with it.

I just use it for when I use my Maschine. It just enables me to play my music through my laptop instead of having to route it to some external sound card.

I like it. Without it my Maschine would be worthless.

Without doubt one of the best tweaks you can make.
(Asus N61J - win7 64 bit)

Running at 80 samples 48khz with a total of 6.4ms latency down from 15+

Yes.

Any update on vers2 Jes?

I used to use it with my old computer.

Basically, made using my MIDI controller go from pretty much unusable (I think ~40ms of latency) to virtually no latency (<10ms), or at least no real noticeable latency.

Then again, it doesn’t work for everyone. But give it a shot.

good stuff

The latest version is 2.1. I use it when i’m too lazy to move 2 meters and grab my audio 4 lol. Definitely a big improvement over your standard audio drivers, whatever the card. Also vital if you run FL Studio etc.

can u run it with another soundcard?

These drivers are really designed to replace your standard internal wdm, realtek or whatever. Most external soundcards run some sort of asio system anyway mate.

Thats what i thought to. Its worth a try tho.

the truth is, I prefer to use it because my only other soundcard is inside the s4… when i’m just playing with midi maps I can lay on my couch and mess around instead of sitting inside my studio.

Same here! Exactly why I use it. So I can mess around when I am upstairs in the living room and want to just lay down some tracks for fun on my Maschine.

So there is no conflict with the s4 onboard soundcard?
And your s4 will perform better i.e. lower latency?

I could read up on it but honestly 10 hrs straight of a lab report deserves laziness…
