There’s only so much power you can take from USB unfortunately. Plus you might need power for the ‘Thru’ mode when you haven’t got a laptop plugged in, not sure
Wonder if it’ll work without external power if you’re not using all of the features? From listening and reading all the stuff it looks like they’re really pushing the 10 to be a standard install in clubs so you won’t have to worry about plugging it in. Of course it will take some time before that happens.
you don’t happen to have stats on market share of serato vs traktor? or units sold… been looking for this information for a while now out of curiosity but no luck. Just anecdotes that traktor is more popular in europe while serato dominates in US.
as for little old nz…i’ve only ever seen serato in clubs
there’s absolutely no reason at all that any club worth its weight in shit shouldn’t have both soundcards (audio10/SL4, or at the least audio8/SL3) installed with a switchbox into the installed mixer. these cards cost nothing compared to the profits the bar would make in an hour or two… if said clubs had even just one international/local big name a year there’s no excuse.
I’m not sure how big of a deal it is. If you’re using a powered hub, you already need power. If you build your controller(s) into a road/flight case, you might as well put in a small power strip anyway, so it’s still just 1 power cord to plug-in.
It’s probably a bigger deal for the more classic setups that only use 2 decks, but an audio 6 + TSP2 upgrade might be cheaper and work just as well.
Or, you could spend more on the SL4 and get what seems like a better interface anyway, just can’t use TS.
