Bar music
So the way to get into clubs around my area is to have a resume filled with bar gigs…but theres always something that confuses me with them…What music do i play? i mean, usually at house partys im playing well…house…but at bars what is the norm?
It does depend on the bar, but it’s usually top 40.
Most of the bars in the suburban area where I live is terrible. They play top40, and stuff like Bon Jovi and rock hits. When I go to nyc that is a different story. There is a lot more variety.

The cool bars round my way don’t play top 40. Only the rubbish ones. YMMV though. Some of your more laid-back house may go well, maybe instrumental beats and hip-hop, broken beats, nu-disco, funky breaks, soul, funk… depends
Um…common sense. Sus where you want to play and go and have a beer there. Wednesday - Saturday. Different days - different music. Different time - different music. Ask your mates?? Who plays there ad where else do they play?
what is the demographic of the bar?
a bar set to me suggests easy to listen to funky and soulful house music. think hed kandi beach house etc
get a bar job. play what you want. if you get fired, fuck it. if not, bonus.
edit: within reason, of course. I would never play top 40, but I would also never play ‘bangers’
