Anyone else think this is a load of crap? Although smart marketing from beatport.

What is it?

If you’d been here 2 week ago you woulda seen most of the forum is on there.

It’s just another portal to have - plus the chart appears in the genre section once submitted.

Why do you think it’s a load of crap? I like that you can add charts, but I wish you could add a mixcloud account to the page.

it’s just what I needed, yet another social networking site to waste time on

I see what you did there…

I think its pretty stupid. No offense to anyone who is not a producer, but this was like at least one thing that we had left that was somewhat good on beatport were the charts… now pretty much anyone and their mom (literally) can create a page and just start posting and creating charts. I don’t really feel that is was something necessary, and I am not even sure how it did something so wonderful for beatport to make it a smart marketing scheme. Once again beatport makes me hate them even more…

^^^ agreed

I’m sure they are sitting there, losing sleep over your forever growing hate.

So much hate you still keep your link active to your music on their site.

I’m with Lance on this one. I hope they add a way to sort/filter user uploaded charts. Finding decent stuff on Beatport is getting harder by the minute.

Personally, I’m not interested on being able to post charts but I do like having another place to punch my soundcloud profile :stuck_out_tongue: and I hope I can get it merged with my Beatport artist stuff soon enough. I hate having a blank profile pic.

but there´s still the resident advisor charts, that imho are way better than most of the charts i see appearing on beatport

I have a feeling they start separating user chart from actual releasing artist charts soon

I don’t think beatport cares, and I never stated that I thought they cared about what I think about them.

And I would have to be pretty stupid to not promote my own music on there, it is the biggest outlet for digitally selling my music. Plus I own a label that has been on beatport since about 2006… If I want to keep on traveling, DJing, and releasing music on multiple labels I need to push my music, regardless of what I think about the outlet where it gets sold… Part of this game called the music business.

Its not like I just jumped into this a year ago and now I am crying that beatport is bad and blah blah blah. I have just watched the change over the years and I’m just not a fan of their business really, I have been releasing music on beatport under multiple monikers since 2005. I have watched in their community discussions where many people complain and make suggestions etc and they just completely ignore the requests and never ever acknowledge the stuff. I had a guy who I was friends with who was pretty high up there in the company, but he has left them and the response from customer service on the label/business side is just very poor. I’m not going to change them by complaining here, I know that… so you can make you dumb little post like you did above, insinuating that I think they are “losing sleep over my forever growing hate”, but I never once made any reference to how they feel about my judgements on them. #endrant

Yeah the user charts are flooding the actual charts so that’s annoying. I guess I can’t really complain though since I’m one of the users flooding the charts. I do have better taste than most of the other idiots though.

Not sure, and that is one of the things i have seen others complaining about. It annoys me that my charts no longer show up under my real beatport artist/producer page. And why doesn’t my music that I produce show up under my stupid new DJ page? They should all sync, but they should also be separating the two types of artists. They need to make more features for the producers so we have the ability and actual desire to push that new style page. I am not going to drive traffic to that page, I just don’t see the point when my main purpose and goal on beatport is to sell myself and my music. To sell my music I need to push the link to my producer page, not tat DJ page.

Right, but I am not saying you shouldn’t be able to create charts and have a place on beatport to call yur own. I really think they just jumped the gun here. They need a way to seperate the strictly DJs from the producer/DJ. My major gripe is that they basically took the charts away from us producers on our producer pages. If you look at my beatport page in my signature you will see what I mean. Like I stated above, that is the page I use to push my productions, and the charts are also another tool for pushing the music. I wish they still showed up there and I wish there was something to still make the charts seem exclusive for the producers as well. Again I don’t have a problem with the DJs of the world having an outlet on beatport to chart things, because that can help me as well when someone charts my music, I just want them to not take things away when they add new gimmicks.
