Beatport

Beatport

Just got a mac, tried out beatport and its GARBAGE. More for EDM style DJ. Didn’t even have ac/dc in its data base. What a joke

Careful, if you keep up with that kind of talk you might end up being an actual DJ.

I don’t get it

I mix multiple genres…no classic rock in database?..wow

Beatport doesn’t sell classic rock.

The metadata is collected from users.

It’s a new software program. It’s Mac only. It doesn’t have a huge user install base yet.

The database is going to take a while to build up.

That’s not Beatport’s fault. It’s not the fault of the current user base either. It’s just how it is.

You can always feel free to contribute to the database, you know.

I still don’t get it…

I didnt see an option to add to database within the program

It’s called beatport not riffport…

Beatport has always been about electronic music o.o Not sure why you’re surprised.

Throw it out the window

Beatport is an electronic dance music website, always has been? Why are you surprised that your style of music isn’t sold there? I’m sure there are plenty of other websites that sell rock music and no electronic house/dubstep/electro styles…

Jheeze

iTunes.

iTunes has literally EVERYTHING, though. House, Reggae, Drum and Bass, Afrobeat, Dubstep, Trance, Rock, Funk and so on…

Yeah that’s why it’s the obvious choice rather than Beatport for AC/DC.

Indeed.

I was just using ac/dc as an example…they didnt have aaliyah, jay z, etc…

But they did have a-ha lol

I don’t know why you’d class something that doesn’t suit you in particular as garbage. Beatport is fine for Millions of people. Plus with the entirety of the internet at your fingertips, one wonders why its that irksome.

Still not electronic music.

If they want it to be used as a replacement for itunes they need a better database. Or they dont need to market it as such

I don’t think they are trying to go up against iTunes at all. Beatport is a dance music store (simplified description).
It gets a lot of music a few weeks in advance of iTunes which is its unique selling point. In that regard it is doing better than iTunes (if the tracks sell).

Beatport used to be a lot worse…a LOT worse. I don’t mind it so much these days cus I need some of what it sells for my Friday night gig. Kinda irks me that it’s slightly expensive and unfortunately I’m one of those that can’t wait a week for a tune to be 99p on iTunes…but them’s the breaks.
