Hi everybody glad to be a member! I’m 24 and have been playing/involved with music since I was 10 years old. Guitar, drums, bass, piano, violin, ukulele, you name it I can more than likely play it. I’ve been listening to dance style music and others like Flume, Chet Faker, etc for the last 5/6 years and have decided I have too many ideas to not try my hand at this as well. I’ve been doing a bunch of research and I think I am going to get an Akai APC40 and a little 25-37 key synthesizer with pitch and modulation . Would these 2 controllers plus the Ableton edition that comes with the apc40 be good for me to start out on? Thanks heaps for the help!!
Sounds like you’d be better suited to using an Akai MPD (Mpd32, perhaps) instead of the APC, since you can use/play real instruments - I’m guessing you’d rather “play” music than “sequence” it…
MPD’s have got nice pads for programming drums with, and faders and knobs too. That, along with a 25/37 key controller should get you well on the way to making tunes…
Thanks for the response! I was looking to do a pretty equal amount of sequencing and playing actual instruments, so would the MPD32 still fit the bill?
