best controller/mixer for small club??help!!

hi guys.im new to this digital dj lark,but very excited..can any 1 tell me what wud be the best controller/mixer all in 1 for small cub i dj at??ive used traktor and wud like to stick with that 4 now.i wud lik to have the controller/laptop as the centre piece,with cdjs for back up from the same unit/if possible??all suggestions welcome,thanks…p.s never mind the spelling

Traktor S4 has dvs support. Or if you want the mixer section to be able to work outside of your software, check out the denon dn-mc 6000 :smiley:

So far for me the S4 was the best hands down. Good control, solid features, and complete plug and play with sound card built in.

I am selling mine due to moving over to Ableton with a VCM-600 now since I have been producing a lot more and want to use more loops.

if you have clarified your needs what and how you want to do you can begin to compare the provided solutions with it and pick the product which is fitting this the most.

since your requirement definition is only “i want mix music” its not clear enough to begin comparing. and so is every suggestion a guess and not of value for you.

you need to ask yourself questions like:

  • do i want a jogwheel? (there are midicontrollers on the market like the native instruments X1 without jog wheels, which don’t bother some DJ’s and other ones don’t like it)

  • do you want to mix external music sources with your mixer? (cd players, vinyl)
    than you need an product which can do this.

then go out to the music-shops and put your fingers on the products, feel them, use them.

then decide on your own with your own knowledge, this is the best advice i can give you.

Like Zhao says try the Denon DNMC 6000

Lots of people on here have one and like it…

The DDJ-S1 is probably the most user friendly option. Itch is avail for free to anyone. Layout is almost identical to higher end CDJ units. Has dual mic inputs, one of which can be used w/o software running (very crucial for a real gig environment).

I’m actually a Traktor guy myself, but after dicking around with my roomies DDJ I can’t argue that any other controller set up is any better.

i love my vms 4, full 4channel analog/usb mixer, two mic ins xlr/RCA outs.

^Fills all your needs that the OP is looking for.

But a better option would be the Denon MC3000

2 Channel mixer with 2 analog inputs and mixer capability without laptop. Not as cramped and easier layout. Control over sample decks and cues.

IMO this beats the S2 for controllers in the same range.

The only reason I would go for the S2 is the mapping..
^^^^By the way, are you sure the MC3000 still has the hybrid mixer?

It’s not really a hybrid mixer its more of a omg my laptop died wtf do I do until this thing reboots mixer. Read the review and I think you’ll know what I mean

The mappings for the s2/s4 is a bit of a double edged sword. I currently own a s4 and love it to death. BUT The one thing I’m not a fan of is the lack of customization with the default mapping. I wish that I could create custom mappings within the default mapping but you can’t…well u can but only to a certain extent. Like some encoders/faders/buttons u can map to a new function but are unable to delete the original function of it.
