Best DJ Equipment for Under $350

Hi, Im new to the forums,
I have been DJing with Traktor for about a year, using a numeric keypad an iTouch, Maschine and a M adio axiom pro keyboard and decided it time to finally pay for a solid 4 channel dj mixer (under about $350).

I have been looking at the following options

  1. Madio XSession pro

  2. Buying a used ipad running touch OSC and running a custom 4 channel mixer page

  3. using custom mapping and turning the X1 to a 2 channel mixer +hotcues and stuff

Anyways im not completely set on a 4 channel mixer, because I dont know how my dj style will change in the future. Im just looking for something that feels a little more natural and that doesn’t require me to be constantly going on computer tweaking volume faders loop recorder, crossfader.etc

Any suggestions will be helpful thanks in advance!

xession pro and an lpd8…keep it under a hundo until you know what you really want…

2nd hand numark omni (only a 2 channel mixer but has a built in soundcard)
or an X1. (I believe it comes with traktor pro2)

a quick question. how do you have traktor s4 software without the actual s4?

Good question my business partner owns an s4 and im using one of his licenses anyways though thanks for the advice

havnt got a clue. Im just picked up on the s4 software. care to elaborate on ya sig mr or mrs colour?

Hardware over TouchOSC any day. Love the app, but real knobs require less touch precision.

Agreed, ok so I think Im going to purchase the XSession (right now) do you think thats a good choice

while the x session would work well as a mixer, your gonna need a little more in order to make adequate use of traktor. I would personally get an x1 along with the x-session.

The x session pro is terrible. I’ve never come across such a poorly made piece of gear. Horrible- I’d much rather use something like a nanokontrol than the x session.

For cheap thrills I’m a fan of stuff from korg.

  1. Kaoss pad
  2. Electribe sx
  1. Easy fx.
  2. Easy loop mangling. Get a decent library of loops and theres plenty of tactile controls

FYI: That breaks the conditions of your “business partners” EULA for his copy of Traktor. It is actually illegal.
