Let me know what you have found out, thanks.

I have the Traktor s4 Flight case, and it is built like a tank. has just enough room for my laptop cans and cables also. (not much else though)
I haven’t had my hands on another case , so can not compare the two.
Thanks Zaniac
Looks good on youtube as well. Except that the top can slide of both ways which seem not so good if having a laptop there. Probably an easy fix.
It would be interesting to hear more from anyone else with experience from another case as well.
In regards to the laptop sliding off, you would need to use excessive force to bump it off, it takes 2 hands to remove it in my case. could I have got lucky? maybe. but it is definitely not an issue. and yes it would be an easy fix.
Great info again ![]()
In a video I saw it looked as it could just slide right off. Maybe you were lucky or maybe they changed the construction, or I just misunderstood. ![]()
I have this one for sale!
Hej,
I built my own case; now it is for sale as moved away from the S4. It’s a tank!

contact me if you are interested…
Zaniac, do you think it could fit a 17" laptop in there?
Actually happened to see your case on the tube a while back, looks great, really like what you did.
Just so you know, there is a little metal tab on the sliding mechanism of the S4 flight case that you can flip up and it stops the top from sliding off ![]()
I think theres a LOT of people that don’t know it’s there.
Haha, ok, sounds great. Guess the reviewers Ive seen was a part of those “a LOT of people” ![]()
Well, are there any downsides with the case that you owners can see and point out for me?
Honestly… No.
Its heavy, but its got to be because its taking care of your S4 and maybe your laptop. To be honest its just as heavy as any other well made flightcase. Anything less would not offer the protection you want.
It is extremely well made. I have no experience of other brands but i do have good cases for my turntables and i know that you can get some pretty shitty turntable cases.
Why take the risk.
btw- heres that little tab that people dont know exists. It does the job.
Yeah, just saw that on the tube as well. Seems good.
One guy said he would never put his macbook in the same case because it would get bad protection in there. Is this also wrong according to you?
Thanks for your and the others help.
Dont mean to be a forum prick but you might want to move this to the S4 forum to get better results…
But anywho, I have the Odyssey Flight case and I love it! They sell it in two versions, one with the laptop stand and one without. I think the one with the built in stand is $50 bucks more. I got it at Guitar Center for around $200 or so. I think $220 shipped. I have heard mixed reviews of the Traktor version case, so I stayed away from it.
Flight cases are a bit heavier than say a soft case or back pack set up, but they are built like tanks and will provide far better protection vs. the alternatives.
They are also great for home use and gigs because they double as a stand! You can even raise or lower the height of your S4 by either adding the bottom of the case or removing it.
Check out this video
The S4 case is heavy duty, cant fault it as protection.
A couple of points;
I made a strap thing to carry it around but it’s not 100% brilliant - it would have been sooooooooo much better if NI had included a couple of hook points to clip a strap onto it would improve the case no end.
The laptop shelve works fine for transport as does the little stopper to prevent it flying off. However I take it off when playing as it obscures your work - all people see is the top of your head when your working otherwise. It’s better to open up and let people see you are doing a bit!
I really like flight cases, even if I never intend to play outside the house. Having a super heavy duty hard case to protect my gear is a good investment. Better than having a soft bag just waiting for one wrong drop breaking an expensive piece.
My main record crates and two turntables are in flight cases. They have been throw around back when I would dj house parties, also taken a few beer spills. The best part IMHO is that if you need to move things around or store them, you can safely stack flight cases on each other.
What is the better brands out there now? I have some Anvil’s but looks like they are not sold anywhere? Odyssey, X-Cases?

[/quote] Yes you wont have a problem there.
Funnily I was aware of this, I should have mentioned it ![]()
Adding my 2 cents to that. be carefull when you are closing the case that the metal tab is not down as it does strip the Foam padding ![]()
