Best Monitors height for dj practice?

Hi guys, I recently bought myself a pair of studio monitors.

The thing is, how should I place them?
Right now this is how they stand

Since I dont produce (at least for now) and mainly practice djing standing, I’m thinking about putting them at my head height (around 1,7m)

Haven’t seen anyone doing that, so, is there a reason I shouldnt do that?
What is best, floor stands, or wall stands?

I am considering 2 main options

  1. This
  2. This

face level

its not usually done because its costs money for stands and mounts, and you dont need to be hearing the highs and lows at the same time to mix.

Where as to produce you need to be able to hear all frequencies at the same time

I personally use option 2

If I was standing doing a mix on Lauti’s setup, I imagine it would sound quite muffled. Okay for playing to a room full of people, but not adequate for comfortably recording a mixtape.

I’m in a similar position at the moment. My temporary solution is to prop the speakers up at an angle using tupperwear tubs so that the tweeters are pointing more towards my face. It looks ridiculous but it works.

I would put them at ear level, or very close to it. You need to hear and feel the music when mixing.

What jimmyv said, tweeters at ear level.

Option 2, some good adjustable stands.

The point right between the center of the cone and the center of the tweeter at ear level.

in theory the tweeter should be level with your ear for best results

Well, I decied to put them ear high, and with wall stands since I don’t have much space and I’m scarred of knocking off the monitors with the other kind of stand.

This is how I put them

Thanks for the help guys

Can’t really tell in the pic, but those speakers appear to be front ported. Regardless, you’ll still want a bit of space behind them, which again, I can’t really tell from the pic. Otherwise, you may get some really boomy bass - may or may not be an issue for DJing.
