Blemished or Brand new

I know even brand new gear can go out but if you had the chance to buy used speakers vs new what would you guys do?

I seen Electro Voice ELX115P Live X for $700 new - $480 used.
They also have the 12’s for $600 new but then $540 used which makes me think something is wrong with the 15’s because of the price difference?

if you can, have a listen to them, if they dont sound right eg distorting, popping - then dont buy them, even better have a listen to a pair of new ones then have a listen to the used ones and compare, just my opinion but thats what i’d do
