Bome's Midi Translator

Bome’s Midi Translator

Hey guys, I just started to fiddle around with Bome’s. Aside from the manual on their website, is there anywhere else I can look up for more info? The hexadecimal numbers is the thing that’s confusing me right now. As of now, I don’t have any problems working with buttons but faders/knobs are confusing me. How do you map a fader/knob?

There’s really no simple guide for Bome’s, gotta learn by doing, and convincing Moniker and Bento to explain things to you like you’re four. That’s what I needed.

Basically, I’d just hit the Learn Midi and then move the fader/knob. That will give you what the incoming message is.

The hexidecimal number thing is realllllly simple - bring up the help tab and theres a hexidecimal to decimal converter.

Just remember that the input and output you write stuff in hexidecimal - but everything in the rules section is done in decimal.

But nah there really isnt much info out there on learning Bomes - just ask me lots of questions and ill help out

I can’t find it the hexidecimal to decimal converter =S. Would it be because I have the mac version? I feel like an idiot, it feels as if I can get past the splash page only by random =S. I’ll be purchasing a copy of this soon and will be asking loads of questions! I thought moniker uses a dvs setup.

she also does a lot of stuff with Bome… gave me some good advice.

Your probably looking in the wrong place, create a new translator and double click on it so the translator editor shows up. Then in the bottom right of that window there is a “show help” button - click that, then click on the midi message bag - you will find it there.

While your at it read that entire helps section.

Thanks Bento for the advice. The Mac version doesn’t seem to have this. I hopped onto my XP machine found the tabs there. I’ll read into it. And post more questions later.
