Breaks are Back!

Glad there is so many people spinning breaks on here!!

Lets get a mix train goin!!

Also this party was at a undisclosed location…like some real old school shit. If your in ATL pm me and I’ll tell you where it is

And yes i have released like one track haha so yeah im “on a label” lol but i really do the mix compilations. Its a pretty small underground label still getting off the ground.

If there’s a mix train lined up I wanna hear A LOT of:

General Midi (I’ll play “The Westerner”)
Featurecast
Plump Dj’s
Evil Nine (of course…)
Krafty Kuts
Bobby C Sound TV

We could run teh gauntlet of mid-tempo breaks (110bpm) right up to some 140bpm bangers!!!

Hell - let’s chuck some 180bpm jungle in at the end!

I got the chance to open for DJ Icey this past Saturday…is was a massive breaks show!!!

Right on.

Props! I used to love DJ ICEY… I saw Plump DJs at NEST not that long ago a peeps were going mental. Could defo see breaks coming back in proper… after deep house comes breaks in the cycle…

I’ve been trying to PM you for a couple weeks. Your box is full.

I forgot Stanton Warriors…

damm i didnt even know!!

Dude hell yeah. I never even talk about Breaks because it gets no love! Would love to start working it back in. I think people’s pallet’s are ready for it now

Speaking of Evil Nine…

And one of my favourites

EDIT: and don’t forget the B.L.I.M. Pro mix or Anthony Rother’s Redlight District.

Break Beat
Big Beat
Breaks
Breakz
Break Step
Dub Step

history repeating

Snare Drums are heavily under-rated!!!

I don’t think I ever understood how there were “dubstep DJs”. It’s an awesome groove to use as part of a set, but I can’t stand it for an hour…let alone only spinning it.

Shotty being in a mixtrain, Dont let me miss out on this one!

You should link me your chune that you made hombre. Been producing myself for the last 2-3 years and am looking to get something signed here at some point.

@mostapha I just made a dub chune myself. Some guys over here still play out a full hr of it. but its more deep rolling dub basslines then gnar gnar gnar gnar!

Amen. I loved what I was able to spin a few years ago at a local dive. starting off with break beats/rare grooves…chill stuff…vinyl house all scratchy and shit then to more current house. That was until the goon core crowd started to take over and everything became hard as fuck electro and bro step. My heart sank as I watched drunk bulldozers take over the place.

sigh…sorry I turned this into a bitch session.

Anywho, some of my favorite labels included jalapeno records, and the likes of BadboE, KraftyKuts, Zenit Incompatible and People Under the Stairs to name a few.

space monkey, it happens. All of it, sadly.

I was always a fan of nice, slow deep house building up towards harder techno (but not hardcore or hardstyle) at like 130 and then slam people with vocal and psy breaks. I only got to do it a couple times for people, but it was a lot of fun.

Loving the Breaks are back discussion.

I guess I really need to do a new breaks mix considering how old these are.

For those of you into Ghetto Funk, Warp9 announced on FB yesterday that he’s going to be dropping a free sample pack, including some beats and basses, at some point this week.

Groovy.

Did anyone get hold of the Featurecast Sample Pack from Loopmasters?

I’ve been DYING to get hold of it, but want to hear from someone that has it…

Speaking of Warp9 - did anyone catch his Ghetto Funk Drums Tutorial? Very, VERY good stuff:

Coupled with his free sample pack, I can see me banging together a nice little remix set with original (by me!) Ghetto Funk Drum Loops and hits!!!
