BT, how does he do it?

I know this is such an uncreative post but my god how does BT mix live?
Would love to see his screen when he is mixing…

Some of you probably hate him (commercial, technology oriented, not pure turntable stuff, CD stuff, producer advantage, has label with many sources etc etc) but after seeing him live a couple of times it was mind blowing…One thing he does so well is really knowing when to bang it out and create epic moments (yes it could be the you know what I took)

but still, I guess i’m not as creative to “hear” what he does…I’m pretty sure it is something so simple and because of the simplicity and my lack of knowledge in this field I don’t get it…

what do you guys think?
how the f— does he do it?

The website is called dj TECH TOOLS why woulndt we like technology orientied stuff

I think hes just really musically inclined and talented, same goes for alot of producers/djs out there

i remember when he used to work at beat non stop on melrose. he was a cool dude.

countless years of experience

yeah that is both his strength and his weakness… he’s utterly obsessed with using ridiculous techniques to get his sound… sometimes unnecessarily so as you could probably achieve some of the same sounds using much simpler means (his MAX MSP stuff for example).

that said, i’ve never seen/heard him live but I really admire his albums.

I dont know, when it comes to music opinions I’ve had experiences where people would say “oh so and so is not true” or pure or whatever…
but your right it is dj TECH tools

yeah, I was afraid of that :open_mouth:

It’s like the story of the local Butcher. Ask him for 1Kg of beef and he takes a scoop, drops it on the scale and it’s 1000.3g. Every single time.

Ask him how he does it and he’ll answer “I just take a scoop”. The real answer is to be able to do that you need to be a butcher for 40 years. There’s no Lifehacks trick for it, you just have to do it a lot.

There’s a lot of stuff in DJing like that. Often the answer is a) being somewhat musical and b) practising it a lot.

No easy answers.

I love BT, he’s a great artist.
All that matters is that he is able to make quality tracks!

But he’s backed by years of experience and custom tools

Didn’t say he invented breakbeat at one point… :stuck_out_tongue: but yeah for progressive trance and breaks the guy is/was the shit

Like this night, it was just mind blowing.

Yeah it’s really that butcher’s story…
