building a custom controler

building a custom controler

hey DJTT
i amin th middle of building a custom controller midi fighter rip off sort of thing exept the pots that i am using arn’t working properly. They turn stuff but are sending out random messages aswell so it sortof jumps and then gose normal and then jumps again.

Probably just dirty. It’s always a good idea to clean your pots/faders with some Caig’s DeOxit D5.

What are you using as the brain for your controller?

2 game pad PCB’s

did you desolder the thumb stick’s or solder to them

Infact have you got a picture of the pad’s?

it could be the value of the pots is off, or you need to throw in a 10k pulldown or pullup resistor. A lot of analogue inputs on micro controllers need the pull up or down resistor to prevent it from reading random data.

lol I found that out last week when I removed both thumb sticks on an xbox controller.

I connected 4 pots to the board only to get some crazy erratic behavior when I tested them out.

heres a pic of the two boards. its not the greatest pic cause its got wires all over it but i have soldered strate to the board not the seperate thumb stick pcb. this might sound like a silly question but i am only fourteen so it is a miracal i got this far. ok to the question, what is a pull down or pullup risitor
cheers

why do you need two gamepads?

each of my gamepads have 16 buttons + 4 analog, isn’t that what you need?

could this be solved by just leaving the original pots on the board? and then just soldering wires to the back of the pcb.

for me it was the other way around, if i connect new pots without removing the joysticks from the pc i get erratic… so i had to remove the included pots.

in my project i’m using a ldr sensor and it gives not accurate information, the way to control that was to include a resistor, in my case i used a pot as a resistor so i can control the sensitivity of the ldr

news?

oh sorry its all done i will post pics as soon as i can take some. its all done very simple compared to your project. i have got it just as responsive as the midifighter, but with 2 pcb and a usb hub.
