Buying a used Mixer: XONE 22 VS Pioneer DJM 250 VS ???

Hey all,

This is my first thread, so if I’m breaking any rules/conventions, feel more than free to correct me! Now, on to the matter at hand..

I’m looking to buy a 2 channel mixer. As for now, I mainly want one to hook up my turntable>>mixer>>yamaha HS8 monitors. However, ultimately (soon), I plan on buying a 2nd turntable so it should also be well-suited for mixing. Some points of attention..

-No preference for anything particular, although balanced (XLR) outputs are a must (to connect directly into my active speakers)
-Budget is €200 max - I’d like to go for something inbetween the 120-200ish range, and I’d prefer to go used
-I mainly listen to electronic stuff, techno, house, etcetera, if it makes a difference
-Willing to go and actually prefer used
-Models I’m currently looking at:
–A&H XONE 22 (Currently looking at a used one for €150)
–A&H XONE 23 (arguably, It’ll cost me a little over €200)
–Pioneer DJM 250
-I’m using vinyl, if it makes a difference
-I’d prefer a simple unit, so no fancy effects etcetera.. Just something with the basic features that’ll do the job
-Bedroom mixing, for now haha

I appreciate all input! Thanks in advance.

I’ve had both the Xone 22 and the DJM 250. I prefer the DJM because of the flaws of the 22. There is a filter pop with the xone 22 but the filters are arguably better than the DJM. Also the headphone cue system is better articulated in the DJM.

I think after it’s all said and done, Yes…

I got the 250 for 184 with free 3 day shipping (Pcnation). Although it lacks a booth out and the filters aren’t as nice as the xone’s…It doesn’t have the filter pop the xone has and I dont have to open it to switch the outputs from phono to line. ALSO the headphone cue system is much better sorted out. The xone’s layout also felt a bit “tight” to me.

Ecler Nuo 2.0 could be a worth a look as well, great little no fuzz unit

Speaking from experience?
Could you elaborate? I’ve posted this thread on various fora and there seems to be a general consensus in that the Ecler is a real proper unit. However, it’s also a little above my price range (new €300, can’t seem to find any used ones).. I’m also currently looking at a used XONE 22 for €150.
What’s wisdom?

I was going to buy a AH xone22 then at the last minute I got a pioneer djm 800. the thing to know is that the xone 22 is made from the same parts as there super expensive mixers. I think the pioneer djm 250 has a digital converter so its CD quality. they both have balanced XLR. honestly I would go with the djm 250 unless you want a FX send and return. these mixers compete with each other. the djm 250 has a lot of auxiliary inputs though. any way when I first herd my djm 800 I was so happy with it.

Also, a little edit: Are the differences between these that noteworthy or will I be pretty much settled with any of these?
The XONE 22 seems a little out of favour here yet I’m currently looking at a used one for €150 and I feel like jumping on it. Should I do it or is it worth it to wait a little longer and see what pops up?

I had a djm250. It’s alright for its price bracket. Filters per channel is a touch. The feel and sound quality of the 22 will probs be better tho.

Also I think if you’re playing vinyl keep it all analogue and go with the xone. Should sound lovely as same spec as a xone 92 in terms of audio quality I believe. The djm250 doesn’t sound anywhere near as good as the djm900 that I have now… Pioneer don’t even claim it will

Personally, quirks aside, I say quirks, not flaws as yes there is a slight pop on the filter, though I’d say I rarely notice it, seems more noticeable when you have wild button pressed, which i never do, lack of on/off switch, easily sorted with a an extension that has switches on.

The Xone:22, it is a fantastic sounding little mixer, the eq’s hands down beat pioneer, the phono pre amps sound brilliant, and personally I can’t stand the little pioneer, well actually all pioneer gear.

Go for the 22.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I really appreciate it. Will test a 22 tomorrow.I’ll let you guys know how itll go.
