Can A Numark DJ IO run 2 montiors without any additional amp ?

Hi all.

If you i connect my computer to the DJ IO and go straight from the interface outputs to the monitors inputs (im talking about PA monitors you use in party and such), will it handle it or do i must add an amp to the chain so it will work ?

thanks in advance.

it depends on the PA speakers you mention. Are they self-amplified, or passive speakers?

If they are self-amplified, you will be fine. If they are passive, you will need to connect audio card outputs to an amplifier, then from your amplifier to your speakers.

If the PA speakers got a Volume knob that means they are active, right ?
sorry for being newbie in this area.

most-likely.

is there a power plug that need to be connected to the speakers? is there an on/off switch?

yes and yes.

Then yes, you will be fine connecting the outputs from your DJ IO to your monitors

Thanks alot guys ! that really helped !

BTW, do most PA Speakers have PL inputs ?

What are PL inputs?

When i want to be connected to the speakers i usually use the XLR input, but do most speakers also have a PL input ?

Still not sure what PL inputs are…

The DJ IO does not have XLR outputs; it should be connected to RCA sockets on the speaker or any input that is compatible with an unbalanced signal.

What is a PL input?

You might know it as TRS.

TRS sockets on speakers are usually Balanced Mono, and they may or may not be able to accept an unbalanced signal from the DJ IO.

I didnt say the DJ IO have XLR outputs.
I want to know if i should buy a RCA to XLR cables or RCA to TRS cables (so i can connect direct to the speakers).

May or may not depends on what ?

Depends on your speakers. RCA to 2xTS is fine and will work if your speakers accept unbalanced signals through the TRS socket.

Hmm…ok, I’ll have to check it out than.
Thanks again for the quick and useful replies.

Give you more versatility for future configurations. You can ditch the adapters and go straight TRS to TRS and vice versa.

It’s also higher quality and cheaper.

More connections =/= higher quality. You’re also not “ditching adapters”, you’re adding them when they weren’t there before.

But having a few standard TRS cables is useful yes.
