Capable music manager for OSX?

I recently switched to OSX where I don’t have the magnificent jRiver Media Jukebox to organize my music. There’s Paralells and the music is stored on a exFat volume which both OSX and Windows can write but I want something native.

I’m looking for a music manager/player with the following features:

  • Play music and have a “now playing” playlist
  • In-place editing of tags
  • Rename and move files based on tags
  • Easily replace the coverart
  • Don’t mess up Traktor Tags

I already tried these which didn’t meet my requirements:

  • iTunes
  • Clementine
  • Tagalicious
  • Songbird

Please don’t turn this into debate on whether iTunes is the shit or not! For me personally it’s just shit and I need something which suits my needs better.

That’s sad, I live and die with iTunes match where I sync 5 computers including (smart) play lists, id3 tags and whatever so I could get my latest sets anywhere I need or wish. What a time saver!

You may be out of luck; most OS X users use iTunes and Songbird is the only other one I’ve heard given a nod from DJ-types. Hopefully someone will tell me I’m wrong; I like iTunes ok but it has some problems and I would love to have other options.

Yeah i’m on Songbird, does everything i need.

There are a few interesting organisation apps though, audiofinder is one i have used before.

I will try Audiofinder.

Songbird is pretty good already. I will probably customize it to my needs and release a DJ version.
So tell me what you’d like to see!

Looking forward to the DJ version of Songbird. Will give some thought to what I would like included.
