cd covers

cd covers

seems like a stupid thing to post, and im not sure this is the right board, but does this look any good?
its literally the first time ive used gimp to do anything

Well, it doesn’t look bad. I like the simplicity of it, but you should try to do something with the text. So that it looks more like a unit with the background, instead of simple wihte text, written over it, if you know what I mean.

the font needs some smoothing, and maybe a little drop shadow i like the background tho. Also the underline on the words Volume One look too thick

I think I would try to have volume and one the same size and maybe with no line. Also might try to change the opacity of the text to make it blend a little better with the background.

^ yeah…i use photoshop but I dont know the proper terms for what im doing…hehe ask me midi and I become a total geek!

You also might want to spell “the” right, unless you meant to misspell it.

yes i did.

i made a few changes last night and made a back cover too.

ill take what you guys said and chance it a bit more and ill post it when its done

thanks for the feedback

I suggest you should read up on the grid system - it will make your designs much more easier on the eye

also NEVER EVER use drop shadows on anything unless you want it to look like an estate agents logo :disappointed:

ok, so i cant make changes to the front cover :disappointed:
last night i had 2 gimp files and i got them confused and i deleted the one that had the front cover :disappointed:

(i also use ccleaner and ir empties the recycle bin for me :disappointed::disappointed: )
but i have the file for the back cover, and i want the styling of the front to match the back, so no text. shadow stuff. but i can fix more minor things.

ill post it later

these are the ones i would use if i were to combine several mixes i already have
front:

back:

I wouldn’t be concerned about “teh”, but I do think “The” is a little classier. The back is kinda messy. If you’re going with the digital font, I’d make it a little more organized and digital you know? And instead of rewriting the genre titles, maybe color code it? So Dubstep is yellow on the front and the Dubstep artists are yellow on the back.

ill give that a shot. thanks

No prob! I’m pretty good with photoshop, I could take a whack at it if you want

sure. go ahead.

i would send you the file, but im using gimp, so you can just copy the image from here

What do you guys think of mine

looks good

Alright, here you go, fresh out the photoshop oven. I just sorta went with it

holy crap man! thanks!
thats wicked!

1 question, how can i resize it so that it fits as a cd cover?
(width: 4.763 height: 4.723) (according to gimp’s template)

thats about 10x better
