Changing over ad system

Changing over ad system

Were just about to change the ad system we are using on the forums to deliver ads. This should result in faster page loading times and a generally smoother running forum from a user perspective.

However the ads might look a bit funny at first as i fine tune things, so if your wondering whats up, now you know

While i am at it i would like to thank Tekki for helping to implement the old ad system - it did us well for a fair period of time

lol sorry guys accidently changed basically everything below the level of the pic as one giant link from the ad :stuck_out_tongue: My bad forgot to put in a simple

Fixed now !

As far as the post ads go i am finished, just need to insert the ads into a couple of other un-intrusive spots on the forum and ill be done.

Ads are now on rotation changing out every 20 seconds, i you feel this is too quick, or to slow let me know and ill take your feedback into consideration

I like the ads themselves, but don’t like the way the screen jumps on the re-load. For me a minute would be better than the 20 secs.

Phil.

Yeah screen jump bugs me to.

no more milley cirrus?

Thats been gone for ages :stuck_out_tongue:

I extended out the refresh to 40 seconds (double the original time) and ill see i there is anything i can do about the screen jumping around during a page reload

Im just pissed when i see the advert for UV Knobs and i know that they are not available
POOPY POOP PANTS:smiley:

this site has ads?

oh wait, with adblock plus i haven’t seen an ad on any site for awhile.

We have ads linking to our own store, without the ads there the forums wouldn’t be what they are now as it allows us to keep on developing the forums.

More people installing ad blockers = slower development and less support of the forum

Now you have..!

Parp… teehee

Were not liking these big chunky ads, were gonna replace them out with some smaller less intrusive ads

i don’t believe in having to expose myself to ads for any reason…

that said, i would gladly donate some paypal to the site if you think my behavior in any way slows the development of the forum.

Its not so much that one person does it, that doesnt have much of an impact. Its mainly if everyone is doing it.

What we might do in the future is allow a paid subscription to the forums to get rid of the ads altogether, as well as look to see if we can offer some other benefits to paid users - but not to the point where people with ads will feel left out though if they cant afford to sign up to a paid subscription.
