changing the cd drive to a ssd?

i have a mid 2010 macbook, it is the white unibody one. not a macbook pro
i was wondering if im able to change the cd drive to a ssd? im wanting to change my 250gig hd to a 750gig ssd and add another ssd in the cd drive. is it doable? i saw the vid on the DJTT youtube page, but thats a mbp not a normal macbook. would it work for a normal macbook?

Looks like the 2010 Macbook is compatible with the same drive enclosure as the MBP:

Find one of those that’s less overpriced.

Thanks guys!

in your opinion would it be best to upgrade to a macbook pro ( newest with all the stock crap ) , or go with a 960GB Crucial M500 2.5-inch SATA 6Gb/s 9.5mm SSD , 16.0GB (8.0GB + 8.0GB Kit) ram , and in the optic drive 480GB Crucial M500 2.5-inch SATA 6Gb/s 9.5mm SSD. all in a late 2010 macbook?

Unless you actually need that much storage+ when you are on the road I’d go with 2 x Smaller SSD’s in a new (refurb) Macbook Pro (256gb each) and then use a Mirrored Raid external for your bog standard bulk storage and backups.

What are you actually going to be doing on your laptop that warrants so much ultra fast storage ?

production, djing, web design, photoshop, illustrator, bunch of crap lol :stuck_out_tongue: , mostly hate the lag my mac has been giving me on a hd, need to upgrade badly.

I stick with my option of a refurb New model MBP and 2x smaller SSD’s and keep your project junk/old. files/movies/documents etc. externally. You’ll get the benefits of better Processors SSD and Redundancy in case the worst happens.

Any Stuff you don’t need Access to on the road or access at blisteringly high speed can go the external drives along with your system backups.

Although if you chuck all that money internally at an aging computer who am I to disagree :stuck_out_tongue:
