Chris Z's Traktor Setup

Chris Z’s Traktor Setup

I started DJ’ing around 3 years ago, started out with a Pioneer DDJ-ERGO running Virtual DJ LE. Picked up a Midi Fighter Classic and used it with the Instant Gratification mapping. Then I started to use Traktor and realised the ERGO wasn’t getting me the full experience. So I decided to upgrade to a Kontrol S4. I used the S4 for the last couple years and had no complaints, but i recently won a Kontrol X1 MK2 off of a DJ’ing website and instantly fell in love with it. So i picked up a second X1 MK2 and a Traktor Kontrol Z2, and that’s the current setup I’m working with…

Macbook Pro
Traktor Kontrol Z2
Traktor Kontrol X1 MK2 (x2)
Midi Fighter Classic
Yorkville YSM6 Studio Monitors

Update December 2 2013:

Traded in the Z2 for a Pioneer DJM 900 Nexus :sunglasses::thumbsup:

what are those monitor stands?

Made by iso acoustics, came with 2 sets of “legs”, these are the taller ones.

Looks like these IsoAcoustics ISO L8R155 Copper Universal Speaker Stand : Amazon.co.uk: Musical Instruments & DJ

Sweet

Im looking at ditching my S4 in favour of a mixer/X1mk2 Combo, is it a worthwhile leap?

Definitely worth it for a proper hardware mixer section. It’s not as much of an upgrade if you go for a Z2 though.

Added a Ableton Push!!!

Recently got into producing with Ableton, and picked up a Push. Awesome piece of hardware for any ableton user, makes it really easy to get ideas down. Also have ableton synced to Traktors MIDI clock, so I have a session of just drum hits as clips that I can play over a track while mixing in Traktor, is a lot of fun

I’ll have to add a picture of the entire setup after I get it all organized how I want it

Those speaker stands are bloody lovely - but - HOW FUCKING MUCH?!?!?!?

I just built 2 speaker stands out of 4 Ikea Sultan legs for <£25…

  • 2 lack shelfs £10

And some varius hardware (<£10):

Actually - that all adds up!!! This hacking lark gets bloody expensive! :rage:

Sorry for the thread-jack mate - I got a bit carried away there.

Lovely set-up, by the way!

They are made by iso acoustics, I’ve had them for a couple of years now but I believe when I bought them I paid $89.99 canadian

Hahaha no worries dude

@Patch: How did you make your’s out of that stuff?! How’d you like secure everything? PM me.
