Common Arrangement Issues

Common Arrangement Issues

New post about some of the more common arranging issues I hear in people’s songs:

I know exactly what you mean. Really nice post there.
But in the end. Is there suppose to be rules or standards at all? That is the question.
But on my side, more and more I try to make shorter intro’s or more “gradual” intros and longer endings. We also have to think that people now a days don’t actually sit and listen to music, it’s just there, everywhere we go. Like a background noise. Sad? Yes, but so true.

I don’t think I’ve implied that these are hard and fast “rules” per se, rather some ideas that might take a good song to the next level. Or not

Yep, you haven’t implied they are rules. But some people do. And not only in electronic music, but all the way to hip hop.
There are though a zillion ways to do the same thing after all.
Also, you see songs that are in the charts and they are just there because it is someone well known. Even if they have an intro that lasts for a min & half.
And the part about making someone listen to your track over and over again in my opinion it has do to with the emotional part of the song. A song can be loved by millions that’s great. It can also be hated by millions that is also great. The worst case scenario is when tracks are in the middle. Thank god there are loads of people on the face of the earth and every single one with different tastes in music.

Great article. My biggest issue with my tracks is definitely my arrangement skills. You made some good points that I’ll make sure to keep in mind when sequencing.

Thanks, glad you found it useful!
