Compensating promoters/ticket sellers?

Hey guys in wanting to do more events i’ve been trying to figure out the best way to compensate people who sell tickets. I obviously want it to be worth their while but I also don’t want to break the bank. For those of you who have thrown events how do you go about compensating your ticket sellers?

You mean at the actual event itself? Or people who work ahead of time promoting?

At an event, it’s best to have shifts of people at the door selling tickets. Most of the time, from my experience, the venue provides the guy checking ID’s. But that way you can give a few people comps (which doesn’t cost you anything, but doesn’t gain you anything either) and then you’re set on that front. If you have people you can trust (close friends) then it should be a no brainer.

Promoters and otherwise also often work for comps. Many photographers do as well. It’s funny how it works out.

The issue becomes you can’t give everyone and their mother a comp +1. You have to cut it off at people who are ACTUALLY doing stuff for you. DJ’s, promoters, deco crew, sound crew. Not your friend’s cute friend, because you know bro, you’re bro’s and she should get in for free.

Hey Bassline Brine I was just referring to the people who are selling tickets before the event.

I worked for 3 hours promoting downtown to get into a festival for free. So i guess either offer them a comp ticket and maybe one or two extra for their friends.
I also found that if you know the promoters or the ones running the events it might be easier. Like if an event doesn’t sell out or the ticket sales are low promoters usually can give out more and more comp tickets.

I think I phrased the thread wrong haha, i’m more so looking at incentives.

Make the event as awesome and badass as possible so all their friends want to come and are willing and prepared to pay full price so they will want to work for the comp tickets.

You don’t. Ticket outlets charge service fees. That’s how they have always made a small profit on tickets for events.
