Computer buzz story. Contest.

I was originally planning on writing this in order to ask for some help. But as my computer was rebooting so I could get on the net, I figured out what was causing my problem. But since I had it in my mind to make a post about my problem I’ll just tell a story.

For the past couple weeks my computer speakers have had a low buzz. But today that buzz decided it was going to try and kill my ears. Well, I can’t have that. The low buzz was killing me already, but a loud buzz was going to put me in a bad mood until it was fixed.
First thought was it must be a grounding issue so I started by wiggling cables until I pen pointed what it was,… or should I say what it was NOT. Not the speakers them-self, not the mixing board, not the any of the audio wires and not any of the power cords to any of the gear attached to the computer. Well, damn I thought, gotta go deeper. Ripped off a side of my computer case, dinked around till I found out it was not the sound card, not the wi-fi card, not the TV tuner, not the power supply and not the computer power cord. Whew!, this was getting hairy. Clean all the dust out of the case and put it back together.
Then as my computer was booting back up, so I could come here and ask the people on this forum I thought about one last thing I didn’t check.

So I did fix it. I wanna play a game and see if anyone can figure out what it was. Go ahead guess.

The speaker volume?

I have this problem in my speakers connected to my amplifier connected to my sound card, so pleeasse tell

You had left your usb vibrator plugged in

Nope, I got semi-pro speakers. They don’t have but just a tiny bit of buzz when plugged in.

Nope, I don’t have one of those. But in close relation, I did make sure and unplug the USB warmed fleshlight.

Fridge or other household appliance on the same mains ring as your gear..?

Penny stuck in the fan..?

You have a burrowing worm in your head..?

Imaginary friend humming in your ear..?

I do have a 2 fans in the room, I live in the damn dessert and it’s over a hundred in the room, but I failed to mention that i did try and unplug the fan. And that was not it. But it did have to do with unplugging something.

3 more guesses. And I tell. If some one gets it they get 10 internets.

You broke your ears?

Or your Hard Drive?

Your Butt Plug..

Ah come on i couldnt let that one pass..!

One Of those plugin Air Fresheners !!!

A) Speakers were not plugged in properly.

B) Speakers and sub were not correctly plugged together properly

C) Sound card plug to power supply was not plugged in correctly.

Loose audio connection.

The only thing in the entire audio and electric flow I didn’t check, or actually the LAST thing I did check was my computer monitor. I unplugged it and the buzz stopped right away. I plugged it back in and there was the buzz. I unplugged it, then plugged it into a different outlet and the buzz was gone for good.
Not sure why that fixed it, never had a problem like that before. Anyone know what the hell happened. The outlet I’m guess.

damn…that outcome was a let down. I thought it was gonna be something crazy.

he was obviously plugged into a hornets’ nest.

Google ground loop isolator

I was plugged into a 6foot power strip that only had one other thing plugged into. Sorry it wasn’t as crazy as it should have been seeing as a drug it out. Loop Isolator. I don’t know what it was. I know that wish a had 200 designated outlets for all my gear though.

I’ve often wondered if heat or especially high humidity does much to fuck up mixers in particular? I’ve noticed that during the summer (north australia) my mixer is a little more temperamental and things are a little different than the winter. Such as hearing pops and the like.. Shit mixer though I think, saving saving saving
