Cooling a laptop

Cooling a laptop

Hi everyone

Following a gig that went really bad (laptop just crashes because of the heat), I m looking for your top advices on cooling a laptop.
I m working on numark NS7 so it means the cooling system can not be heavy as it will be supported by the embedded stand of the NS7.
So far, best reviews go to logitech N-100 for like $25.
If some of you have a cooling system in place and would like to share, I will really appreciate some good tips and experiences before investing.

Thx all ,

Bviman

PS : the heat is due to the fact I m leaving in a caribbean island where it s like 40 degrees C and 92% humidity at the moment :s

i got one of these;

my laptop has had sever overheat issues for the last 8 months or so, partly down to me tweaking everything i could to highest performance and all but melting the processor (ok completely down to that).
instead of 0-80 degrees in 30-45 mins it gets to around 40 degrees and stays there.

nice thing with the usb is it’s open ended so you don’t have to lose a port.

nice but the shape of it won t work with my setup : laptop is on a stand :s

even though the legs can be repositioned? have seen fan/usb hub hybrids to, answers 2 problems at once

@bradsee : no : the stand that comes up with the ns7 is quite good actually but no positioning. That s why I need a flat cooling system such as the antec one or the logitech or somthing similar (less than 2 pounds) to put right under the laptop ..but it needs to be plain and the same size as the back of the laptop.

dude, spell my name right at least :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah, spell Bradsea correctly!

This should cool things down:

After 2 crashes from overheating I got this one and have not overheated since.

I use a little velcro to keep my lappy in place on it.

@bhrathKee..sorry ..the spelling on my lappy seems to be affected as well
apologies for tha’ again
@Karlos : I already thought about that considering the nice beaches we have here..but I need to find a full waterproof solution
@jakeintox : are you firm on this selection ? looks like EXACTLY what I m looking for so ..

The thing that led me to buying this one is that the curved shape let’s way more airflow under the machine than the flat pads do. It makes a pretty noticeable difference. The fold out back leg seems flimsy but it’s very sturdy. I think the package said that it got rated the best of blah blah blah… the only problem is the amount of space between the pads that your lappy sits on. My 15.5in HP barely fits.

that thing is sexy. mine fans are starting to kick in earlier so i might need to get on this. those things that BreadC recommended though are really cheap..

@jakeintox : thanks again..my only problem is the ratings here and they are not that good..
Anyway, thanks everyone..Any other input will be welcome of course

I’ve had great experience with this company:
http://www.quadcooler.com/?quadcooler.htm. One of their coolers has helped my old Vaio survive gigs in some serious desert conditions. They were responsive to my queries and very helpful.
