Custom DIY midi controller based on the Behringer BCR2000
The midi controller I have in mind has over 40 potentiometers so the BCR2000 caught my eye as the ‘brains’ behind the whole thing. Anyone ever hacked one of these things apart? What about the LED lightrings? Are they controlled by the firmware or are they just midi-activated lights? I probably don’t want to use them for most of the controls -only effects and controls which are shared between each deck.

looks like the led lightrings would be a really long job to re-solder!

hmm, slightly putting me off tbh… but what other controller gives you so many potentiometers for about 80 quid second hand?
I was thinking R. Sowa when i read the first post. One of the best things about that site, is the guy who runs it is really cool, and he’ll really help you with any problems you may have. But if you go that route, it’s going to be a lot more expensive than a used BCR.

I don’t think so. At least not with out some additional circuitry.
Is this the one to go alongside the EKS XP10’s? If it is, how’s it coming along Milo? I haven’t seen you on here for a little bit.

my plan is to build a case with the XP10’s and a 4 channel mixer, like the 4midiloop (http://futuremusic.com/news/images/4MIDILoop.jpg) but I need a good brain to base it off first!
looks like the pot32 is my best option… the company that makes them emailed me back to say they’re working on encoder support but doesn’t work at the moment.

I’m not that close to finishing but I am starting the final stretch. I’ve got most of the metalwork done and I just need to find the time to get some soldering done.
Basically I need to fix the plastic plate on to the case somehow and then extend the usb/phono cables to the case too. After that it should “just” be a case of soldering the 22 buttons, fixing the jog wheel, testing and then mapping.
Finding the time is the difficult bit at the moment.
