Daft Punkness (Best Track on The Album)

Daft Punkness (Best Track on The Album)

This:

Done and done.

I agree

100 BPM kids. Learn to groove it.

Here’s something that makes me sad: Daft Punk releases a new album of regurgitated sounds from house producers from 30 years ago. It’s bland as fuck, yet there are multiple threads. Tricky comes out with a new, fairly brilliant album and there isn’t one thread. You can’t teach taste, I guess.

The album was severely overhyped IMO.

It’s a decent album but not anywhere near as good as their past albums.

+9000

word

creating multiple threads about it still doesn’t make it any better.

It’s not even that. It’s boring, uninspired and rehashed. Major letdown. The Pharrell tracks are the strongest ones on there (not that that’s a bad thing).

130 BPM EDM has ruined most of you kids.. Its sad :disappointed:

Wow, really? Do one.

This is true. I love 130, “stadium-house” but growing up with mo-town always on in the house, and being in school during the new-jack-swing era, there’s something to be said about slower tracks with Deep, deep grooves.

Seems like everybody just wants to rage these days, myself included

Yep theres some good main room house I like, and of course I do like Electro… but I feel more of a swing styled groove is a nice kick back from the standard in your face, over compressed synth, that is so prevalent today

Bought the album yesterday:

  1. Yes, the Pharrell tracks are the best.
  2. The album is great, but it’s not something new.
  3. The album sounds great when played as an album, not hearing each song individually.
  4. It would be so cool to see “Daft Punk Live”… like Bangalter and Guy-Man playing with the synths and Nathan East playing the bass and other guys with drums or guitars…

Just my thoughts

Nile’s guitar on “Lose Yourself To Dance”

and JR’s drums right here is sick:

remember this? his reaction to hearing the final master for the first time:

some friends invited me to play the drum track to cover this song on a youtube mashup video… Should I do it?

Oh please. My musical tastes are extremely diverse. I knew that the album wasn’t going to be anything like mainstream EDM.

It’s just not that good of an album. The album was way too spread with no main ‘message’. The supposed groove was really quite weak. There were quite a few rehashed riffs in there.

I tend to agree, I was disappointed by the album, it was never going to be an ‘EDM’ (really dislike that term) album with dancefloor ready tracks and tbh I would’ve been very disapproving if it had been, however I just don’t think it’s very good. If it had been released by a new band/producer it would not register much of a ripple on most people’s radar - the long gap between albums, the recent mainstream of acceptance of pop/dance music in the US and because it’s Daft Punk have pushed the hype right up. Obviously it’s going to be huge over the Summer months but I do wonder come this time next year or in 5 or 10 years, will people still be playing it and will it stand up to scrutiny… I’m not sure it will personally.
