Creating my Ableton Live Performance Set.

Hi guys.

I just put a blog post up about my first day of creating my Ableton Live Performance set.

Feel free to have a read, and any comments or advice you have would be appreciated.

ESSBEEDEE

I hope you finish yours. I started my 4-deck live set two months ago for DJing with my APC40 and still haven’t gotten around to finishing it. :stuck_out_tongue:

After reading your blog post, I must say your plan looks very solid. I’m waiting to see/hear your final product.

@Onimode.

Hey dude!

Thanks man…Haha 2 months and still not finished…man…mine could take a while then :slight_smile: Its strange there is so much you can do and manipulate in Live that you could spend months and months finalising a perfect set, I guess the idea is to just try and keep it fairly simple right?

Oh, yes. Keep it somewhat simple. Make a system that you can remember and work with. The main reason I haven’t finished my set is because I’m looking for something that automatically plays split clips one after the other like in Isotonik 8. It really is the only thing holding me back. :x

Plays ‘split clips’ how do you mean?

Couldnt you just use a follow action to do that?

Split clips, split tracks. They’re one in the same to me.

Take a song, warp it, and make multiple clips of it. Each clip has a different and logical starting point. I do have follow actions set right for them now, but I can’t loop on-the-fly properly with follow actions set. I need some M4L device that plays the clips automatically so I can forget about things and loop. :stuck_out_tongue:

Ah I see what you mean, like a work around for looping without M4L. Its a toughie!

Yo, that is a cool blog idea. Keep posting on it - it is inspiring.

Thanks man, will do!

Day 2 will be this coming Tuesday.

My aim then will be to find the best samples and the best ways to load them in to each deck

Great I cant wait.

Is there a way to get RSS feeds from that site.

That way I know right when you new material comes out.

Nice blog! I noticed at the bottom it says that you work at house of fraser, do you know James Pollak?

@timjm… Yep the link is essbeedee.com/feed.

Let me know if any of you think of any way I can improve the site too.

@Alexwild… Cheers man, nah I dont think I do…what does he do?

Hi guys.

For those interested…my blog is all set up and in place…

Quite funny…I love reading Leo Babauta’s Zen Habits and Minimalism blog’s and I was looking for a theme like he has on both…then I discovered the theme he uses he actually gives away for free. Happy days.

Check it out;

You don’t need the rest of Isotonik for this feature now if you’re looking to build you’re own template…

Cheers

I’ve been working to figure out Max recently to do something like it.
But this is pretty difficult. Visual programming isn’t for me. :U
