Nice find! I never actually realised how well spoken he could be in interviews. I suppose alot of my views of him probably came out of quotes with no context.
I thought it was incredibly interesting to listen to his justification for his live streams, and his views of money in - money out. He’s trying to achieve a level of transparency in his music production that is hard to find outside of smaller indie artists.
Nice, nice. Saw/read many other interviews from Deadmau5, although his music isn’t my thing. He’s such an interesting guy actually. But in this interview it seems like the most honest I’ve seen Joel. Respect +1, again.
I didn’t watch this video but deadmau5 has been business minded since day 1 with music. Hes gonna be a mogul for sure, his ideas on branding are spot on and you can tell hes done some reading about building a business.
All in all hes just a really smart guy…still don’t know about his personality but whatevs
I am stoked that it is being well received. Kinda made me think straight for a bit and go…You know, I need to not listen to hype and believe every post..twitter…facebook status..I read.
He seems fucking genuine and just like me or one of my mates.
His business is taking off and its looking good. However he is not RICH…but getting there…
Any publicity is good publicity i guess, but PaulyD for instance, has a lot of shit talk around hit…but its not doing him any good in the long run…as most of it is true. But the shit spoken about Joel…now seems BS to me. Not that i am believing all he is saying, but because this is the first time I have seen him talk for more than 2 mins and be able to express himself.
I watch a few of his livestreams and he is an amazing guy to watch and listen too. His knowledge about production is just unreal. A lot of people think he’s a dick but he’s actually not
I generally don’t like the Mau5, but that was a great interview, and he really made a lot of great points regarding the context within which many of his comments are made versus the way that they are interpreted or blown way out of proportion. All in all, interesting. Maybe I’ll put a song or two of his back in the rotation…
I sort of have to disagree. He is an extremely mediocre DJ. If you listen to him and clear your mind of the tv persona that he is, you realize he is every average medium sized city DJ at a top 40 bar. To me, I never saw the point in bashing guys like that. There are and always have been those average “townie” DJ’s. When it comes to him, he was a DJ before any of that Jersey Shore stuff. How can you fault a guy for capitalizing on fame? I guess if I didn’t find it so hypocritical, I’d have no problem with bashing him. At the end of the day though, I know every single person who talks down on the guy would do the same thing in his position.
Really enjoyed that interview. I think i’m one of those few people that actually don’t mind him when he’s a c*nt. Very opinionated and i like that. But the interview i think he answered everything well. He seemed to sit back and just say the honest truth unlike some ego controlled DJ’s that are around.
Definitely, i was pretty taken back when he started speaking about the people getting out their faces at gigs etc. Also i think quite a few people would have crumbled when the whole Madge think kicked off simply because it’s.. Madge. But he stuck by his guns.
Someone who speaks their mind to me is usually a twat/dick. But that’s just my opinion.. I class myself as one of those people because i always express my honest thoughts and opinions. But i’d definitely rather hang around with honest people who speak their mind than people who are false haha! But overall he seems quite a cool guy. A load of respect for him.
It was quite cool how he admitted he sold out to dubstep just because it was popular. Don’t think much other people would have done that.
