Deep House Mix December 2014

Deep House Mix December 2014

Hey

Some of my favourite tunes of the last few months mixed with some great classics.

Based on information I’ve read lately on this forum I’ve tried something new and mixed this with just the volume faders - made no adjustments to EQ at all throughout the mix. First few mixes took some getting used to but I’m actually pretty happy from about track 3 onwards and intend to work on this style of mixing going forward. Still quite a work in progress but I get the feeling this going to bring some enjoyment back to mixing for me.

Also, tried this as a proof of concept for how I intend to use my Midifighter Twister going forward. My intention was to have a ‘base’ sound running throughout the entire mix. First half of the mix uses an 808 clav with various beat patterns, the second half uses an 808 tom, also with varying beat patterns. I feel this can be used to help add depth to my mixes and to add an element of continuity throughout the mix. Again I’m pretty happy with how it turned out but I need to adjust the volume of the twister deck as its a little loud and overpowering in places.

Anyway please have a listen. Its 90 minutes long so may need a download. Please let me know what you think. Tracklist below.

Cheers

Jon.

Bump for feedback.

Enjoyed this, was perfect for my morning jam. I’m a fan of the track selection and the transitions weren’t nails scratching a chalkboard.

Yeah, I like a lot of it. Definitely some stuff I would play. Pity about the distortion in the first 24 mins. You back the level off around 4th Measure Men, which is then much better.

Thanks guys. Appreciate the comments.

Not sure what happened with the levels at the beginning because I kept them constant throughout but you are right I can hear the distortion. Could well have been me getting used to controlling the levels with the channel faders rather than the EQ.

Thanks again.
