Designing a Midi Fighter Case for DJTT

ZOMG prototype

So who wants one?

Sorry for the crap pic, better quality ones to come! I’m not a bag maker by trade, so excuse the crappy craftsmanship…

Full detail shots soon!

noice!

DO WANT!
Any idea when these will be hitting the DJTT store?

Not sure your selling your product very well with that statement mate.

Jus sayin’

Maybe he’s trying to say that the actual bags will be better? Afterall that one is just the concept model, right?

Ah get ya… That would make sense. Hopefully.

Yeah, the post with the picture itself even says “ZOMG prototype”, seems like a reasonable assumption to me, eh?

Oops internet mess up sorry.

Sorry for the confusion.

Yes, this is just a first prototype that I made myself by hand, which are in no way an indicator of the quality of the product that will hopefully eventually hit the store.

Being a first prototype, we’re still awhile away from hitting manufacturing so unfortunately, it’s gonna be awhile before these will be in your hands!

Again, detail pics to come later today with a proper photo setup.

Pics

So here are some better detail pics of the prototype. I repeat it is only a prototype that I myself made by hand (mostly with glue and fabric and a lot of frustration), and I am not a bag maker by trade so excuse the less than professional craftsmanship.

However, I do hope that this gives you all a better idea of what the final product might look like. I will be sending this prototype to Ean at DJTT for further review and looking into manufacturing possibilities.

Reconfigurable separators

Currently, since I don’t actually OWN a Midifighter I’ve configured the case to hold my Audio 8 DJ and a bunch of cables.

Looks good - I’d get one ! I’d like it to fit a sound card and a Midi Fighter if possible !

Good work!

I will def check it at home

when do they go on sale? $$$? id spend like $50 or so.

Looks tight bro’! Hopig this will happen!

Thanks guys!
Anything you want changed?
I believe Ean wants the final product to cost approx $40

To be honest… we are losing functionality by having it made for two midi fighters.
1.) It would be much easier to pack two seperate cases with smaller more logical footprints.
Try and think Tetris but in your bag or case
2.) If you had a flap on one side with loop velcro on the flap and hook on the side, then loop velcro on the opposite side… Then you could mount them together if you feel you need both midi fighters together on one platform. But what if I want 1 midi fighter on either side of the mixer? Am I stuck with some rectangle case that is suddenly making it useless for having them both at the same level?

I think you need to see the form/function balance from a manufacturing point of view. Will there be two cases available.. one for a single midi fighter that allows djs to use their controllers the way they want or something that forces you to have them together according to some other method of djing.

Yes to be honest I do agree with you, but Ean made it clear to me that he wanted a design for two Midi Fighters, so that’s what I designed. I think it’s not so much of a problem. You can easily put other things in there like your audio interface etc.

Perhaps a single Midi Fighter version will also become available.

Yeah I think at the end of the day, i would prefer to have the structural stabilty of a square/ equal side supporting the weight in the bag and the weight on top. And the ability to pack it better. I think Ean just hasnt thought it through all the way yet. Thats what preproduction is all about, especially before it hits the manufacturing lines. I dont assume a two version bag is honestly because he feels it will sell more midi fighters I just think based on his style mabey of using it this would be a bag made for him instead of other people who would rather have the option of having it on either side of the mixer. Imagine the novation dicer just being one controller with just different colored buttons on each side that you need to find a place in front of the mixer which only works in the situation of having a desk with space infront vs club installations with no space infront of the mixer. Then you have to turn at an angle to use your bag/stand that is forcing both to sit side by side.
The workmanship is top notch .. dont get me wrong.. I like everything your doing.. I just think having a smaller footprint for each midi fighter makes more sense so you can use it( functionally) if thats even the purpose of having a dual purpose carrying case/stand

Perhaps a version that you can velcro 2 together easily? Would that be too complicated? I think Ean’s reasoning for having a 2 slot case is that people now have to buy 2 midifighters? How about a simple flat pouch on the front for business cards, gum, pens, stuff like that? How about a shoulder strap or carry handle?

If you put MOLLE loops on it and make it in Multicam I’ll be first in line to buy one. J/K don’t listen to me.
