Designing Dj Product Need your help!

Hey to all DJ’s around here,

My name is Rink Bergsma, 20 years old and I’m in my 2nd year of Product Design at the HKU in the Netherlands.

I began a new project to make a product, designed for DJ’s. I know a bit of the DJ world, but I think you guys know better than me. So I’m asking you to tell me what you really want.

You guys know what annoys you or what comes in handy before, at or after a gig. For example: a Dj bag, controller/laptop stand, little tools you name it.

Things to keep in mind:

  • I don’t do software
  • I got 3 weeks to finish the whole product. Then I’ll be testing it for the first time
  • Next week I got to know what the idea will be

So I hope you can come up with some creative ideas! Let me know.

Laat maar weten via PM als je wat wlt weten.

Ja hier ook, PM maar ff als je vragen hebt.

Mij mag je ook PMen als je wilt

But let’s keep this thread in English.

Oh really…

Do up a controller like the z1.

I’m don’t work for NI yet

For the dutch guys:
Bedankt voor de reacties. Zal laten weten als ik vragen heb. Heb sowieso nog testers nodig.

Keep the ideas coming! Thanks in advance

I would like to see a foldable Controller/Laptop stand that fits on top of a Club environment Mixer/Tabletop/Turntable, but still have full access to the controls of the Mixer/Tabletop/Turntable.

All the stands always go behind the Mixer/Tabletop/Turntable or you have to put your stand beside your gear, but there’s not always room for that in the Dj boot.

So it has to be:

  • foldable
  • fit on the most common club mixers/tabletops/turntables
  • come with a good bag

It need to have a MIDIfighter type of firmware installed!

How about design 3D headphones? Instead of 2 (left and right) speakers it would have 4 (right front, right back, left front, left back). It should sound like you are sitting in the middle of an orchestra with all the instruments surrounding you.

Blinged out DJ furniture that didn’t originate from Ikea. Along the lines of http://www.hoerboard.com/ but with more subtle bits of functionality, modular vinyl racks, additional stand attachments, stealthy hidden droors, etc.

I’d pay upwards of a few K for something worth putting in my living room.

something to cover a technics deck that a controller/laptop can rest on. I cringe when I see people with resting things on the platters.

like a dust cover?

lol

If you need another tester, you can PM me too ^^ I’m from Noord-Holland.

A stand that doesn’t cost >100 but still is foldable and sturdy would be something I’d really want!

Dust covers are rarely ever in the booth, At least the ones I work in

+1 for the Laptop Stand
+1 for the Furniture

A cheap affordable flight case maybe? With built in jacks and such?
