its not too big of news but i thought it was cool to see a purely not software dj start going towards technology.
DJ Cotts got a midifighter

Cotts actually started out on traktor 2/3 i believe and then when he caught the DJ bug bought cdj’s and a mixer. from what ive picked up in some of his videos i think he may have traktor scratch and had it for some time… anyone confirm?
i mean, he hangs out with ravine… whos a huge ssl user… (as ive never seen him use something that isnt timecode)
i dont doubt that cotts uses either serato or traktor on occasion.
Yeah he used it but stopped, I didn’t mean technology in general I meant moving back to software I just didn’t want software in my sentence twice. But for a while he hasn’t used traktor. He is now using tsp2
Uhm, I’m pretty sure Cotts has been DJing with CD’s for years… and only in the last months (I’m pretty sure on his tour that included the Too Addicted rave played here in Seattle ^_^) did he buy TS2…
OK. It’s interesting.
There’s people on this forum that actually know Cotts & Ravine?!?! Amazing!
sarcasm? haha. i am an avid follower of both. to be honest dj ravine was a large push in my advancement as a dj. i watched his vids as though they were tutorials.
No sarcasm, total seriousness. I play hardcore, too, so it’s just surprising that there’s other people on this forum that know of such a niche genre. I just played a show with Ravine this past weekend in SF. He’s crashing on my couch for a couple more days and I showed him all of my DJTT gear to him. Woop!
you srs? haha thats crazy. i love hardcore and such though i dont mix it since there isnt much of a base
I proably would have never gotten into happy hardcore if i never came across Ravine a year ago
You say that likes its a good thing… ![]()
my buddie went to college with Cotts, I only met him once and didnt find out he was a dj till i saw his rig haha the rave scene in our city is pretty much non existent so he has done well to get where he is. Good ol’ youtube
YouTube has been a great avenue to get hardcore out there more, awesome genre and so much fun to mix!
and 16b441khz is right. I started mixing purley on Traktor DJ Studio 2.6, then got a mixer and stopped using it. Had Traktor Scratch for a while but sold it a few weeks after getting it (I didn’t like looking at a computer screen whilst mixing). Then finally now bought Traktor Scratch Pro 2 (off Ravine actually! as he really didn’t like it and wanted to stick with Serato).
As I have the controllers now for traktor (X1 and Midi Fighter) I barely have to look at the computer screen and it gives me the freedom to do more technical stuff.
But at the end of the day as long as you are being creative and not using ‘sync’ it dosen’t matter what you use.
And No Left Turn, big fan dude! Have loved your stuff over the years.
Ahh UK Hardcore… not my Hardcore of choice, personally, i prefer the dutch and italian stuff, but nice to see other HardHeads here!
same here. only ever heard the dutch hardcore and was like “eeeeeh” but then i came across Ravine (who was a DJF member btw) and listened to some of his stuff on youtube. UK hardcore is much more my cup of tea.
i love both cotts and ravine and they seem like really cool guys. down to earth and fun to be around.
i’m pretty sure Ravine is still on SSL abd uses an X1 with the serato overlay while cotts uses TSP2.
Yeah cotts uses Traktor these days.
I met him yesterday
And ravine as well. Pretty much made my life ![]()
nice man. i’m jealous ![]()
