Dj Craze faking his new routine?

No doubt that craze is a kick-ass turntablist but his last routine is a bit suspicious.
(or am I seeing ghosts?)

Check 1.10 in the video

Edit: Just saw this on Craze’s fb-page

"DID THIS LIL VID TO PROMOTE MY REMIX FOR BIRDY NAM NAM’S “DEFIANT ORDER” … ITS NOT LIVE, JUST SHOWING HOW I CREATED IT

http://news.beatport.com/blog/2013/01/31/dj-craze-cuts-up-birdy-nam-nam-in-a-live-session/"

Very strange that beatport calls it a “live” routine…

what are we looking for? the video editing is throwing me off.

Just before 1:10 he starts doing a section where he’s transforming on a long tone, sometimes giving the record a flick forward to make the “note” of the tone go higher, and sometimes touching the edge of the platter to make it go lower. Unless I missed something that makes you think it’s fake, I think you might just be misinterpreting what he’s actually doing.

I was just confused by the fact that the turntable starts to spin by itselfs.

1.11: turntable stops
1.13: turntable magically starts?

However, Craze himself says it wasn’t live so its just a compilation of different recordings

Ah, I see what you mean. So I had missed something after all. Haha.

As he said, it’s not filmed live. It’s more an error in video production than anything. I wouldn’t doubt his skills. I’m sure he could rip that routine out live.

The magic of TV & Film

It’s all bs when it comes to video editing… as someone already said it’s made to look good. If it was all live, you’d see cameras in loads of shots as they switch from one camera to the next. Just look at the Switch & JFB ‘Fatboy Slim’ routine.

(go on, watch it, it’s a good one!)
The Ortofon on Switch’s right deck turns into a.. um.. Shure? (not sure tho!) which JFB lent him after his fkd up half way through filming. It was confirmed to me though that the audio was done in one take which is the important bit after all! Now I remember why I got into Music and not TV!!
Remember kids, the camera never lies… except for when it would look bad if it didn’t! :tada:

I’ve watched that Switch/JFB routine a million times, how have I not noticed that before?!

Real or fake, its still a dope routine. I like that hes using his bully breaks timecode vinyl

Those are serato Quatics lmtd. ed timecode.,

The bully breaks were yellow and cyan.

It’s the DJ equivalent of a pop video. Nothing fake, just filmed several times to the same recorded audio to get a great in sync end result.

Craze uses traktor not serato. He just covered the label up with his record label logo.

it will be editing mistakes…the thing with semi pro and prosumer equipments and DSLRs is that they cant be genlocked to each other, so on a multi camera shoot, the cameras have to be sync’d manually in post…so errors in the actual edit can happen although the audio will be uneffected

Ah shite i was on about the JFB & Switch video,

Yeah those are the bully breaks lol sorry

I hesitate to ask but is that a porn reference?

I think its pretty awesome that skrillex asked him to basically release a turntablist routine/live remix on his label

This guy has been in the game for minute i’m sure its a fault in the film production.

both were great videos, i think you guys are just over looking the gist of the routines. Practice over and over and those routines, become just that, a routine.

His name is Switch. What do you expect?

mmm more interested in that alesis andromeda a6 in the back… drool
