Dj headphones!!
what dj headphones i can buy for 150 max!!
i was looking between the pioneer hdj1000, v moda lp crossfade, stanton prodj3000, sony dv7000 i thing and the panasonic technics one…what are you opinion and any recommendation and why?
the pioneer hdj1000’s are pretty sweet from what ive experienced, or i just read a pretty damn good review by Skratchworx on the Numark Red Wave. Im using a used pair of Reloop RHP-10’s that are pretty good also. It just depends on what kind of situation you’re gonna be putting them in
Between those I’d go with Techs, RPDJ over RPDH. Pio 1k have a bad reputation for being fragile (and the foam is too thin IMO)

The hdj-1000s are notorious for breaking
I used to use Sony DJ-500’s (about $90-100), as I found the more popular 700’s too heavy… but the 500’s ended up breaking at the hinge fairly easily. After two pairs of those, I bit the bullet and paid more for the awesome Sennheiser HD25-1 ii (right now $185 on Amazon.com)… well worth every penny.
I’ve used the Technics RP-DH1200, but they where a little heavy for me. So now I have the Pioneer DJ 500, and the fit me really nice. I’ve got them for about a year now but haven’t broke at al.
I suggest that if it’s possible you go to a store where you can try some headphones, because everybody is happy with another headphone. It depends on many things if it is good for you.

Allen & Heat XD40 for $100. TRUST ME ON THIS, if you want good headphones, save $50 more, and get the AIAIAI TMA1 or the Sennheiser HD25. Best headphones out there
Sennheiser HD25-1 ii’s from ProAudioStar. They beat every price for me all the time. Yes even cheaper than amazon etc. I had sold my hd25’s a while ago and I just bought a new pair again ha.
I can also vouch for the Allen n Heath xd-40’s. I have them too for non-dj purposes and I love them Bc they are light small comfy and portable.

Hi, I’ve had the same pair of HD25s since 1997!! They’ve been gigged fairly frequently, I’ve looked after them mind, always put them in a padded bag when not in use but have only had to replace the ear pads (cos I’m a sweaty monster) once and nothing else. They are absolutely rock solid and still performing same as day 1.
Cans seem to come and go and I’ve seen that with friends who show me the next best thing only for them to break 
When they do finally die, I’ll simply phone up the nearest store and buy another pair of these sweet cans. I can’t praise these more highly, best piece of dj kit I’ve bought (along with 1210s that are the same age).
If you can stretch the cash, see them as an investment

There are very few headphones that will last so long with regular gigging, unfortunately its not generally one of the top things on peoples “must have” list
MDR-V6’s (7506) are my weapon of choice for the past 12 years and only replaced the pads, the hd-25’s are just as durable and very few others are. My only gripe with 25’s for DJ purposes is they don’t fold up.
In fairness to the new Beats mixr headphones they look well designed, look pretty, look light, and look durable too, shame they aren’t (at least) half the price though or they might be a winner in the pro DJ market.
How good are the hd 25 sp’s for around £100?
Also looked at these but cant find opinions, i really like the look of them:
The SP’s sound great but the cable ALWAYS ended up twisted and fucked up, during a gig the swiveling used to drive me completely bonkers, replacement cables are needed frequently if they aren’t being handled with kit gloves.. .
Why they couldn’t have designed them just a little better I’ll never know.
Sony MDR-V600 are amazing
V600’s are not a patch on the mdr-V6 (which cost the same) - sound is completely different (reports of distorted and enhanced Bass coloring) and the build quality suffers ALOT.
Theres a lot of unhappy people who got v600’s as warranty replacements for V6’s. Sony brought out the v600 originally as a replacement to the V6 and then had to re-release the V6 due to complaints by the audio community.
