A US judge ruled Wednesday that a deejay should face felony murder and other charges in the shooting death of a nightclub customer.
Johnny Jackson III who goes by the name DJ Outlaw had a run-in with the victim inside the club when a dispute arose over playing of a demo CD, and was eventually told to leave and kicked out from the club.
The victim then approached Mr Jackson outside in the carpark supposedly toting a handgun in which the accused acted in self-defence and shot the victim 5 times with a shotgun.
Witnesses who saw the event testified that Mr Jackson fired on the victim as he approached and stood over him firing more shots.
The case is set to head to the grand-jury for other related crimes.
Moral of the story, don’t hassle the DJ for requests!
What? Your Stanton Uberstand doesn’t have a gun rack?! Geez, 5 times with a shotgun?!? I mean, one shot you might be able to play off as self defense… the follow up shots when the victim was on the ground and “Mr. Outlaw” pumping a few more rounds into a disabled body will get you the “you done used too much excessive force” conviction. I can see it now… Mr. Outlaw, meet your new in-laws, Bubba and Jesus, they’re welcoming you into their… “prison family”… you know, because DJs get so much street cred in prison.
As far as I’m aware, there aren’t many jurisdictions in the US that allow semi-automatic shotguns to hold more than 2 rounds. And even with modification, most of the ones I’ve used/seen will only fit 4 without seriously impacting performance.
There are exceptions to both, of course, but the only shotguns I’m aware of that hold more require a Class 3 Weapon Tax Stamp and end up with a total cost of around $10,000.
I could be missing something, though…I haven’t exactly tried to shop for the zombie apocalypse just yet.
With respect, that’s not entirely accurate… There are plenty of shotguns on the market here that hold more than two rounds, perform just fine, and are perfectly legal for joe schmoe to buy provided he meets the standard requirements (not a felon, not a wife beater, etc.), no stamp required.
Also, I didn’t see any indication in the article that the shotgun was a semi-automatic, not that it makes much of a difference.
