Why would you even think that playing DUBSTEP at an ARMIN VAN BUUREN trance party? With her 10+ years of experience you think she should know better.

Trance and Minimal (deevey’s Hawtin example) is at least within the realm of acceptability. This is more like playing Drum and Bass at a top 40 night. Just flat out stupid, and as tito said - most likely just cheap self-promotion.

oh yes i remember listening to ASOT 550 - armin was like “this is… this is dubstep right??”

imo thats showing no respect to the organizer, its like paying to go see a soccer match and instead be presented with basketball

i have no issues with her set, its pretty good, just kinda out of place

On the other hand, if she’s a dubstep DJ and they’ve booked her… then it’s the organizer’s fault

Yeah i watch the set after reading this, quite like it; but at first you can see people being like “yeah okay, sick!” then later on theres a definite “oh she’s still playing dubstep..?” vibe going on.

she released a few trance (yep trance 100% trance not trancestep hybrid or whatever) on ARMADA (armin’s label) but since then she kinda went dubstep (or whatever you call it now - dubstep infused edm? electrostep?) , probably armin was not aware of this change of style (which explains him asking on the interview “I see you changed your style a lot from trance to dubstep?”) and booked her assuming she still plays trance

I was there. People were PISSED. Paying $ to go to ASOT 550 in the freaking RAIN in LA and seeing that was not making people happy. Armin should have known better.

Well it’s A State Of Trance, not a State of Dubstep. And people pay good money for tickets to see that. I’m guessing a lot of ppl got their buzz / high ruined haha

Armin doesn’t choose most of the supporting acts - he has a massive team of people who run every aspect of his career.

You do know most of the podcasts by the ‘big’ players are mixed by someone else and then the vocals of said artist added in the correct parts right? It’s a business to them.

Armin certainly has as say in whos being booked buddy. Its his fan base, and his show. To say he has no say is ridic. And the show was live dude. I was standing there. The mix was live. ASOT 550 is being toured around. Hence a live show touted as such should be played as such.

if you went to a show call power flower dub shower and it had all these dub names and someone went heavy trance you would be pretty pissed.

I liked her set, but i could deff see disappointment in the crowd and that was just from a youtube video. She should have realized… A State Of Trance…atleast attempt to make your set trance-head worthy. But to each their own, as she is a super hot female DJ (cool ass shirt too btw). Oh and if you have a open spot in Flower Power Dub Shower (or FPDS) i’d love to play :stuck_out_tongue:
