DJ Set Transition Etiquette

DJ Set Transition Etiquette

Simple question, lets say you have a predetermined set and you notice the current song your playing will fall like a minute or two short of your set time. Is it more accepted to let the DJ whos playing after you beatmatch into your song early or play another song but infringe on his set time?

In other words you have an hour set, the song your playing ends at 59 minutes into your set. Would you let the next dj come on at that time or play another song that would lets say go to 63 minutes, 3 minutes into his set time?

lol really? You don’t communicate with the next DJ at all?

im sure he could cope with that extra minute

just talk to the next guy

Communication is key! Let the other guy know what’s up and see what he’d like to do. If he’s already set up maybe he won’t have any problem jumping on a bit early, or perhaps wouldn’t mind starting a few minutes late.

this

I always try to know the style of the DJ playing next and end my set with a track within his or her genre, particularly a track that’s got long mix phrases. It’s the gentlemanly thing to do.

Thanks everyone. Its my first time having another DJ beatmatch into me and just wanted to be as courteous as possible

Communication is key!

Personally, I hate it when DJ’s beatmatch into each others sets.

I let the guy before me finish and the crowd will clap for him etc.
Then I start my intro\first track.

End of my set, I expect to be allowed to finish and the next guy can start.

However, this is at a festival etc.

In a club, i find it depends on the crowd.

But agreed with everyones comments. Just have a rap with the next DJ.

Be cool, thats all.
